It's 100% up to you if you don't want to pay that price. By all means wait a couple years and get it cheaper if you don't think you'll get $60 worth of enjoyment out of it. But you're not a victim just because AAA game publishers want profits.
No idea if I will buy this one, for ~25 Euros perhaps.
You don't get it, man. Apple is a great smartphone maker because millions of silly people buy their products.
There was a time when you couldn't introduce a writer and say "he is a great writer because he sold millions of copies of his book." That would have been an insult.
I can make a cat video and have millions of views, maybe billions. Would you introduce me then as a filmaker next to great directors? Of course not.
Numbers are just numbers. If all the idiots in the world buy a copy of a terrible game, will it turn into a great game?
They have a good marketing potential.
@Rasanova:
It's a betrayal for me. Because they left PC to focus on the easy money on console.
@PR_GOD:
You can't use the full potential of a PC. They are not standard. Even if you make a game that uses the full potential of the super computer used by the Chinese government to hack military targets, they will be like "damn, we need more power..." and they will plug another CPU or GPU and add to it's calculation power.
It's just pointless. My computer can't make ARMA III work with maxed out settings. Or GTA5 or Crysis... And Crysis is pretty old now. I was still a student when I played it.
@Spawk:
All console games were developed on computers. Do you think they can code games using a playstation controler?
So yeah, you can use an emulator. But do you want that? Play with a controler like a peasant?
@Captain Kaivarian:
YES! Wait for sales my man. Don't give them your hard earned money. They made us wait for one year, we can make them wait too.
Pfew... Thank god I knew the world was messed up before reading some of your answers, guys.
But can you please raise the level a little? Insults are expected. But can you at least give explanations? Arguments? This is a forum. A place to exchange ideas.
Okay. Step by step:
PC gaming is superior.
I really don't know where to start to explain this one.
Some may think this is just an opinion, but not really. The opinion would be on the criteria to decide. But on the obvious criteria, we should all agree that PC is superior.
From a developper perspective. Console is superior. You have a standard issue platform. All Playstations 4 are the same. On PC, some have windows 7, others are on Linux, others are on windows 10... Different versions of each OS too. One is missing some softwares, one is using a different firewall, different antivirus, different version of DirectX... Oh, it's a mess. Some people use AZERTY keyboards... Some have Nvidia cards, others got ATI-AMD cards, different CPUs... Oh it's a lot.
Developping on PC requires some elegance. You have to keep it simple so it works for everybody.
On Console, they all have same software, same hardware, same controlers. But you have to keep the games simple. The platform is limited. But there is millions and millions of players you can reach. And they HAVE TO BUY YOUR GAME.
On PC, there is piracy. Players can play you game. And not pay you a penny. And you need to be supported by the community to sell them copies. Or find a good reason to force them to pay.
But let's stick to an obvious example: On PC we don't need aim assist. We are accurate enough with a mouse and keyboard. So all the aim assist mechanics on PC games are just leftovers of the console culture.
In HALO, a supposed awesome console FPS, you engage targets at about 5-30m most of the time because console players can't hit anything beyond this distance without aim assist and a sniper scope. Same for Battlefield, Call of Duty etc... It's very quick, very close quarter battles. No time to think. Very console mindset.
Just close your eyes. Imagines the crosshair on HALO. Do you see the big circle in your screen? Ridiculous.
On PC, a shooter would be a realistic game like SQUAD. And then, it's like reality, you shoot at point targets when they are close, at areas when you are not sure where the enemy is, you spray and pray in the bushes etc...
On PC, aim assist is usually a cheat. And we call it aimbot and we kick and ban players for using it.
PC is a complex platform. Many different games. Strategy games like Starcraft. If Starcraft was on console, well it would have been a pretty dumb game. Do you see the Korean gamers play Starcraft with a playstation controler? How many orders a second can they give with that?
I could write a 5615pages rant on how consoles are awful. Let's just say that they are two different cultures. And I don't like it.
