Audio crackling

I noticed that the audio seems to crackle sometimes. This was most noticeable during the opening cutscene when starting story mode, but also sometimes when people are talking. Anyone have any idea why this happens?

I use Logitech G560 speakers.
Same thing happens in COD WW2.

So update, when it starts crackling I just open windows sound settings and disable my sound card. Count to 10 then re-enable it and the audio is clean again.

This is ONLY game I have ever had to do this for too. R* will probably have a patch.... In April.

Funny. It's May and there is still no fix.

I've disabled Nvidia HDMI audio from device manager and crackle is gone, i use logitech g433

I was at 96 KHz 16 bit, switched to 44.1 KHz 24 bit and the issue is gone.

switching to 44.1 did not fix it for me BUT this said, i noticed i only get this when i also have a video stream open on second monitor. its weird, anyways anyone of you watching or having streams open when playing and having this sound issue?

it's very random, sometimes i gt it sometimes not no matter what i do usually changing something on audio devices or usb devices gives you a shot on the crackling roulette

My game audio starts crackling when i ride my horse near buildings and large groups of trees. Going into towns makes the the game unbearable. I'm using a 3.5mm headset and I already tried changing the bit rate and hz in audio settings, that did nothing.

I have the same issue with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 external audio interface.

I remember I had the same issue in the past with some other game and the only soluiton was changing the sample frequency to 16bit, 44,1kHz in the sound settings. I changed it also now and so far no crackling...

I was able to make it stop by deleting Mcafee.

I find ! in the app audio preferences, the rdr 2 audio is down automaticly, don't move the cursor a lot. sorry about typo I'm french lol

I don’t have any sound issues, I’m running with a sound blaster recon. It’s a old card, but they have a lot of new cards too think newest is ae-9.

Good thing about sound blaster, is that 99.99% of resources are processed by card itself. So most of the time you won’t have any sound issues even when your system is struggling. Plus it frees up system resources.

But I been a sb loyalist since dos days.

personally i don't have crackling in this game BUT i have it in other game witch i find WEIRD to say the least. having it in just a few games and not all, makes me wonder if it a game engine problem more then my pc system problem. i always blame that i use sound on board of my motherboard and it being just crap. BUT i recent bought a headset on UBS with intergeted sound thingie (should not use onboard sound now) YET i still have the crackling in some games ?! WTF how the hell do it fix this poop.

PS: and NO will not buy a complete new pc. so don't reply that thanks. i allso try'd most of the things on this forum none seem to work 100%, some seem to work on and off, weird like i said.

I noticed that sometime ago when nvidia added hd audio driver to their graphics driver install, it really messed up my sound. Crackling was one of the problems, also it has a habit of changing my speaker configuration.

But what’s fixes it is changed from nvidia driver back to my sound blaster driver and fixed my speaker configuration and everything was perfect again.

Now when I install a new nvidia driver I do custom so I can deselect install of its hd audio driver

Maybe that will help some, just something to try

wait a sec, the audio the nvidia drivers installs are they not needed for someone who has a USB audio headset device? i assume if you use motherboard audio you kinda need them right?

i'm so confused, it used to be simpler, you had video drivers, audio drivers, motherboard ship set drivers all neat in its own install, now the AIO driver packs give me head-pains pffff.
