It has no MP. It's using Vancian-style magic!
WE'RE BACK TO SPELL SLOTS, BABY!

I didn't even catch that. Good eye.
And here I thought this was using Origins/Dawn/Anniversary as a base.... odd.

Well it better be : D. To give the original NES,Famicom/SNES experience of original release. I sure hope its as close to it as possible. Remastered graphics based on original i can be ok with though!

Be careful what you wished for. There were so many spells in the original game that did not work or it did the opposite of what the strategy guide told you what it should do. It would be funny if they kept the bugs intact as well.

Source on this?

Oh yes..this method is when you used to buy the spells, you have limited slots. This is how it was in original game. That is good..that they kept this in. I kinda like this format. It makes you use more tactics on which spells to get and which ones not to buy.

Ugh, Square, why??

No /actual/ confirmation, but there's no visible MP in the screenshots. Plus it claims to be based on the original.

This is my favorite news about the remasters. The GBA/PSP battle changes just ruined any identity FF1 had.

Still waiting on a source to back up this claim.
Look at FF2, FF4, FF5 and FF6. The right side of the UI in each of those has the MP value, just like they always did. FF1 and FF3 don't have that displayed, and those are also the only ones that had spell charges in their original releases. Is it technically confirmed by on official at SE? No. Is it pretty obvious that it's spell charges? Yes.

It also made you use magic items to cast spell and such. You wouldn't want to swing your Cure Staff around the enemy unless it was an Undead-type. However, if you used it as an item instead, you can cast an infinite amount of the Cure spell. This sort of thing was lost in the later games and remakes.

It's not really using the Vancian system as each "spell slot" can be used to cast any known spell of that level without preparation. Like Sorcerers, essentially.

Thanks god! :) I love it
