worth it to play solo?

But yes, if you are starting out, go safer seas until you get the basics of questing and basic flow and control of ship. But once you get the hang of it, jump out of safer seas. I still do safer seas if i want to do Tall Tales (story quests with lots of objectives). Monetary rewards are not a big deal for Tall tales, it's usually the other aspects that are fun. It sucks real bad if you are 80% through a tall tale, then get jumped.

I would recommend playing on "Safer Seas" if you are Solo and New. If you have played before, then Solo is not that bad, but it is HARD mode. Having 2 players is really good.

I solo a lot. It's fun, but you'll be doing a lot of running away early on until you learn the ropes.

Absolutely. Practice and maybe watch some youtube tips videos. Dont run from fights. Use it as learning experience. Now you have stuff like hourglass so you have pvp on demand so you can get exp fast while at launch there were times I would play for hours with barely any pvp so you can get better so much faster now. Enjoy the rush :)

Also, keep in mind this game is emergent gameplay. You can try to talk, a lot of folks won't fire first. Many folks will ally with you and show you advanced tactics. The main issue is maintaining your cool. It is easy to rage out and think the experience is terrible, but then there are times where you destroy a whole ghaleon of great players solo, either through luck or good positioning. That will keep you going for years, that rare moment where everything goes super well.

Anecdote:
I was on an island with my solo sloop once, had to go to the bathroom real quick. A ghaleon of 13 y/os. They intended to grief me and "Take my ship". Spawn killing me. managed to jump in the water, climb back up on my ship as they chased me, ran up to my crow's nest and grabbed an explosive keg, jumped in the water, and dove deep and released it onto the bottom of the ghaleon. Chaos. Children screaming for mercy, and just killing them all as they slowly sunk. They had a TON of treasure, hours worth of work. I wanted peace, and had little to give up, and ended up making children cry and tons of loot. Best day ever. Taught them a valuable lesson on Hubris

But if you do go solo, post about it. I'm sure there will be plenty of folks willing to jump on with you, to show you some tips. I find that's the easiest learning, find some nice pirates to help you out. So many players are sweaty PvP try-hards, but many don't like stealing candy from babies. Be cool, and some pirates will even help you out that were trying to kill you. Risk/reward is everything. Go for high value events or emissary flags (which gives you big loot bonsues, but makes you visible to pvpers, and a value target so they can steal your flag). versus solo, and running an alliance flags, you may come across others to join with. I'd say the positive experiences of other players outweigh the negative ones. Just don't fall for trash talk bait.
ok, guys. Thanks for the info! I will see some videos of it. Also loved the stories @Elvis Prime

I've been a 99% of the time a solo player, played the game for around 200hrs I think? For sure more fun with crew-mates, but solo slooping Isn't too bad. Only trouble you may run into is if you face another hostile crew with more people. Numbers advantage is very strong in this game, having just 1 other crew-mate to help do tasks is powerful. But I've seen solo players take down galleons, or even multiple crews all by themselves. Btw if you go solo, only sail the sloop. The other ships are almost impossible to crew by yourself.

Hes telling truth, you will learn much more in high seas, its only your loot when you sell it.
You should start on high sea because its more fun to play with risk, its point of the game have some risk you could lose some, its only making you stronger.
If you play SS you will get bored quickly, you need players for risk or for some funny moments.

New players are more skilled than 50h players in SS, thats reality, you learning nothing, you do nothing, you cant even fight cuz you need to learn how to do this things in HS.

We dont care about new player to steal their loot, we got milions of gold, we got everything and if we wanna fight all time, we will go HG, yes i killing some players but only if they hording loot on their ship or when they are anoying, thats life 80% of games you will not fight so there is no point to play SS if you not doing TallTales, fishing or player with you GF, that mode is for families, playing with friends without risk, role playing, thats why there is that mode, when you wanna play like normal player to have fun, start in HS and you will learn quickly what to do.

Only that you called him clown for saying something thats make sance i could tell you would sink in 3 mins cuz you dont know what are you doing into this game, stop being toxic, its sea of THIEVES not Sea of.

It's a shame that they cut the rewards on safer seas (and no captain ships for whatever reason). Just let players play what they want - pve enjoyers play pve, pvp enjoyers kill each other. But nooo, everyone must be in the same basket...

Yes, you playing with risk so you can play with your ship to collect achievs, its not PVP PVE, high sea is PvEvP, that different story, nobody pushing you into high sea if you wanna play SS just stay there but dont complain when you playing with 0 risk. Its tutorial mode for new players or players with families to roleplay, not for normal playing.

Sea of thieves is about community, finding players to have fun, even if they are going to sink you, thats point of the game bcs you will get bored in hours, i got 30 milion gold and why should i even play, you know why, to find some nice players to have fun, its about people not about useless gold so you can have useless cosmetics and useless 30 milion golds in your inventory when you got everything in this game, its about risking its about sweat in battle when you have ship full of loot, nobody pushing you to hord loot on you, you can sell everytime its only about how much you will risk, if you are greedy dont be mad at someone when they stole your loot, its not your loot its only yours when you sell that loot, play with this mindset.

It's not about risk, it's exclusively about fun. As a player, I want to have fun from playing the game. I do not gain any fun from fighting players, regardless of who wins the battle. Private mode was asked for a long time, and now there's this downgraded version of a regular mode, so we are supposed to ♥♥♥♥ off. Like, uh, no, this is not what was asked for. It's just another reason for pvp enjoyers like you to look down on pve enjoyers like me.

You get bored in hours without players - good for you, but dont think that goes for everyone.
