long answer yes u can play but keep in mind that the Hacker has some sort of Server accsess means he can do all kind of wierd stuff inside apex gift packs, bann players, give them hacks basically Minecraft Creative Mode But its not a Client Accsess means ur PC is safe at least with the Information thats out now
ohh and btw the real wtf hacks happend like 4 weeks ago not in the ALGs means u keept playing a hole month and now u start to worry when it would be waaaaaaaay to late anyways so yes just turn the game on and have fun
when EA and Respawn posting that the guy has RCE then u can start to worry cuz then he really could go insane but with the info now thats most likly not the case so have fun hope that helps u and others that read this
Will you be fine, maybe. Can it be really bad, definetly. The hacks we saw during the Tournament are vissible, but the RCE voulnrability if used by someone with alot more maliciouse intent can use it to install malware without you noticing. So playing right now until EA comes with an official statement is highly dangerous. Considering they have not given any statement other than the e-sports team suspending the tournament is really bad.
I wouldn't touch the game with a foot long pole right now. And neither schould you. If you've played recently, do a full virus scan of you computer.
The TLDR is the hacker probably has server side access NOT access to Easy Anti Cheat. If he had access to EAC then we would all be screwed and we would know by now. Also with server access, information is stored across multiple servers, not just all on one. So while he has access to deploy things in game, he does not have access to thinks like payment information.
I highly recommend watching the video though because Thor does a great job of explaining what is very likely happening and why we shouldn't jump to the worst conclusions
EDIT: There has been further discoveries that Hal's computer was compromised and there was a direct connection showing up from a known attack machine. Likely Destroyer's jumpbox or the compromised machine he is using. They can then hopefully track who this is from here but if they are using crypto then it will be more difficult. The people that are working on this have acquired the information from Pirate Software and are investigating further. It is extremely unlikely this is RCE and very very likely that he got direct access in someway. They also discovered that he likely was able to shut down servers in the past purely from the performance display that shows server ID in the top corner
Except the only reason that anyone had access to those computers was because the computers where already compromised. The amount of BS you guys are spreading is impressive. The client is safe. Those idiots in the already had compromised computers. The attack did not happen through the client at all. The hacks are real but they was already installed on the compromised computers.
RCE = Remote Code Execution. Imagine the hacker, or anyone the steps to this exploit has been sold to, can run ANY code on your machine. I assume the prerequisite is for the hacker to be on the same server, but it could be much deeper. This is Logj level of exploit. What he did at the tournament was publicly humiliating EA and Respawn. If used with real intent, any computer launching or playing Apex could become a part of a botnet at the very least, at most a key logger can be installed, browser sessions stolen, ransomware installed that encrypts all files until you pay them to decrypt.
If anything, I would recommend anyone who launched the game recently to deep clean and reinstall windows. For all I know, there could already be silent viruses on all machines it could reach, just waiting for command and control server to send it instructions for next actions.

From a comment above: "he can do all kind of wierd stuff inside apex gift packs, bann players, give them hacks basically Minecraft Creative Mode But its not a Client Accsess means ur PC"
This is sooo wrong. On the tourney streams, a guy had a hack menu pop up over top the game. Like it literally is external software. I can't image "Halal hacks" menu being part of Apex that some person with developer access can enable. The exploit can clearly silently install software on the client's machine, through the game Apex
you are saying that two separate players, in an online qualifier had the same virus / were compromised in the same way, to have different hacks activate on their machines right as the qualies were happening, with the same text spammed in chat "hacked by x"???
What are the chances. I think its more likely there is an exploit within the game, that targeted those specific matches. Either the hacker got deep to the point he can connect to any game and spectate it, or it was someone who made it into the same qualies and activated it to people in their game
You are clueless. The computers had been compromised and had a virus on them which gave the hacker access to just those 2 computers. It did not happen through the client sponge bob. The other issue with the Apex packs is server access and that can only change things on the sever, not the client. As bad as you want this to be a real issue it is not. Sorry. Perhaps you should read some information on what happened instead of spreading false information.
