Random friends being added without me knowing them

I loaded up Apex today for the first time in a few days and I noticed I had 3 new friends. I have no clue who they are and they all have comments on their steam profile from other people they've randomly added. Could my account have been hacked?

EDIT: Possible fix? I changed all the login info for my steam account and the friends disappeared off my list. I'm gonna keep an eye on it and post updates if anything else happens.

One way to find out is to check your Club page & see if it says you've been playing matches while you were offline, if so then change EVERYTHING, email, login name, gamertag, passwords, the lot. & make sure to setup 2FA on all all of them.

As for why, do you have any rare skins or heirlooms? some people will just see that you have nice stuff & try to hack your account just to play on an account with rare skins.
They "may" not do any harm to your account?? but this is still something you don't want happening.

I'll have to check my club when I get home tonight. As for rare skins/heirlooms, I don't have any on this account. My Xbox profile has a ton of stuff because I was a week 1 player, but I switched to PC in August of last year and haven't played nearly as much as I used to. I'm probably around level 180 or so now with a small handful of legendary skins ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

just happened to me, 21 unknown people on my friends list in game, I have no friends, my EA and steam list is empty.
