You'll get way more wins if you think about your Q and how will the decoys go, instead of just spamming them into walls. Always control them mid run, canceling control on a certain action also makes them move on the last action before the cancel.
Don't be afraid to pretend to be a decoy, like walking backwards or being stuck. It's 50/50 since most people shoot on instinct.
Invisible revives are clutch, way better than lifeline's too, since you can use it vs. multiple squads and doesn't make as much noise that draws the entire map to you.
EVEN if people know it's a decoy, the seconds they will waste looking at it or flick their mouse at it will give you an advantage.
People say he's "useless", which means he's balanced. This game always has 3-4 meta Characters on top since the beginning. It just shows Respawn sucks at balancing if in a game of 16 characters only 3-4 are considered good, lol. (he actually shares 6th place for kills avg with Gibby and Wattson, there's even a dude with 150k kills on him)
i think i agree with this. i always wanted to play mirage but hes very underwhelming. although i think 3 seconds is still a bit too long. it guarantees an easy win against 1v1 right away at any range, given that he can shoot while invis. (prob even 2v1 on an extremely skilled player).
i suppose maybe he cant shoot during those 3 seconds (similar to wraiths tact but with no light track) and has a speed up instead. this makes his ult a repositioning or getaway skill instead.
If Mirage uses his ult in front of the enemy, there's only one blue light, easy to follow then you know who's the real one. If he uses his ult prematurely in cover to avoid giving himself away with the light, all you need to check is who's holding the gun.
When you see a Mirage like an idiot walking and not sliding ahead, you know it's a clone. If both teams know of each other, then you still should shoot once the clone to check if he's trying to be "smart".
tl;dr: He's bad because he relies on others ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and no buff will make him good, it's the entire design.
Personally, I wish they'd just give him 2 Tactical Decoy uses (like the Holo Pilot in TF2), then remove the Decoys from is Ultimate and simply let him stay completely invisible for 4-6 seconds while you flank or escape your enemy (still taking damage if hit, of course).
As it stands, his passive Invisible Revive, is his strongest asset (which got nerfed with the Golden Backpack change of now showing electric effect while reviving).
one of the best tricks i have when playing mirage is to just run in a straight line into a wall and pretend i'm a holo, and then MISS all my shots when i have the other team perfectly flanked from behind and dont suspect a thing.
As I said:
What I mean of "know each other" I mean the location, if both teams know of the existance of each other then sending the clone is either stupid or big brain, a single bullet will stop the big brain and it won't distract enough if it's actually a clone so Mirage remains useless.
Honestly, Mirage is fun, it's just that his kit is not made to be good for competitive. It's a pub legend, which is TOTALLY fine.
