For older graphics cards you might be better served using DirectX 11. For newer cards (like the RTX 3000- and 4000-series cards from NVIDIA) you will gain on average 15-20 extra frames per second with DirectX 12.

As others have pointed out this is still in beta, so your mileage may vary, but it's worth testing out if you are experiencing issues with DX11.

It's still beta.
It depends on what you define as 'better'

It's been working mostly OK for me. Been using it since it was introduced. But it's not like you can expect anything to work perfectly in apex.

DX12 will get some updates in new season. So I'm estimating they break it by accident. Apex is apex :steammocking:

-"Significantly improved CPU performance of the Rendering Hardware Interface (RHI), mostly benefitting the PC DirectX 12 beta."

No idea if this will actually have some real benefits.

You will also need to change launch parameter for DX12 when new update is available:

-Changed the way players opt-in to the DX12 beta: if you're playing via the DirectX 12 beta now, the launch argument "-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json" should be changed to "-anticheat_settings=SettingsDX12.json"
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Just read the patch notes for S21.
FYI:
-Significantly improved CPU performance of the Rendering Hardware Interface (RHI), mostly benefitting the PC DirectX 12 beta

And as JHS_ said:
-the launch argument is now "-anticheat_settings=SettingsDX12.json"
