Old player debating coming back after Destroyer2009
Has Respawn or EA made any statement about the security of their game?

I used to love Apex, I say used too because it's no longer in my rotation of games since the big hacking debacle

I know it's not going to affect the average joe but I'm just not comfortable with someone potentially being able to get into my files and add things to my computer such as hacks, malicious content, etc.

I am pretty cautious with Kernel level anti cheats as it's the reason I haven't played a few games in the past and present (Helldivers 2, Valorant & Vampire Bloodhunt on release) especially an anti cheat that runs in the backround while the game isn't being ran. This doesn't apply to apex and eac, if I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

Are the players on pc just addicted to the game / don't care about their security or has respawn said "okay it's safe to play on PC"

My question was did Respawn make a statement on the security of their game lol

No, there was no official statement. After that security breach, ALGS was held offline as a LAN tournament. We don't know how Destroyer did what he did, and we won't know because for over a ~year EA/Respawn policy about cheating/cheaters is "stay quiet and don't say anything, because otherwise you are tipping cheaters".

Here is an old topic about that, nothing new in that matter except cheaters flooding tournaments ALGS now. ~30% of Masters/Predators are cheating.

But how it was with Destroyer2009 is a mystery. We only know his demands:

Currently, EA/Respawn is filling the 2nd demand, "solos".

Even if they did make a statement, what would the difference be in terms of the game’s security?

This isn't a serious question right?

An official statement would mean that if someone's hardware gets compromised via apex they, respawn is responsible.

Keep drinking whatever flavor koolaid ya got

Ahhh, that's a shame. I did spend a few dollars on this game but nothing compared to my friends who collect heirlooms, heirloom weapons, and heirloom skins lol

Some of my friends have probably spent about $1000 if not more on cosmetic packs, event packs, bundles etc. (no exaggeration) and I feel bad for them more than I do for myself

I get that a giant majority of the players are on console and this doesn't effect them but respawn, ea, whoever is in charge is really stiffing their day 1 players

No one exactly knows how these things got on Hal's and Gen's pc.
But it's easy to see that either of them having a comprehension about regular pc things other then launching a video game. Proof of Genburten not knowing how to start a Win Defender scan and Hal randomly accepting some file send to him on stream.
I'am 95% sure their pc's got infected by said hackers malware. So that's that.

About the server hacking and inserting bots and the like.
Only EA knows the status of that. And I can guarantee you: They will never, ever make a statement about that. And yes they DO care, they just can't make a statement or give details.

To add on. If there was a vulnerability where said hacker could inject his cheats purely via the server exploit onto individual pc's. EA has a massive, massive problem and could be subject to lawsuits of EPIC proportions (pun not intended), ofcourse depending on where you live.
And if this would happen to you. It'll just take a pro bono lawyer to absolutely destroy them

I 100% get that, I just don't feel comfortable playing the game for some reason after this breach, a little piece of mind from Respawn would make a lot of people feel more secure about reinstalling the game, I know they can't just say "our game is safe to play" as everyones computer as you said can have some type of malware that has nothing to do with Apex but it would be nice if they addressed what happened for us on the more cautious side of security in online gaming.

EA :
"Here 8 apex pack..."

I'm in the same boat. I haven't touched the game after what happened. Until EA / Respawn makes a statement regarding this issue I doubt I'll launch the game again. It's too risky. Even if I'm a nobody, if it's still doable I'm not putting my PC at risk.
