Fix for "Couldn't create XAudio2" on game startup on Windows 7
Note: this is not about the bug that makes the game freezes since Season 15.

On Windows 7, after an small game update that occurred around 2022-11-04 the game could not start without crashing immediately (just after black screen and APEX logo starting to draw in the bottom right corner) with the following error message window:

Originally posted by Engine Error:

Failed in: MilesDriverCreate
Miles output follows:
Couldn't create XAudio2.
[OK]

So, basically the game complains about a missing "XAudio2" thing.

Via StackOverflow[stackoverflow.com] I've found a fix that worked for me:
As stated in Developer guide for redistributable version of XAudio 2.9[learn.microsoft.com], a version does exists for Windows 7, as a NuGet

My fix is to get that DLL.

1. Go to the "Microsoft.XAudio2.Redist" NuGet[www.nuget.org] page.
2. Download the ".nupkg" file and give it the ".zip" extension (to open it with your favorite archive manager).
3. Copy the "xaudio2_9redist.dll" located in "build\native\release\bin\x64\"
4. To "C:\Windows\System32" as "xaudio2_9.dll"
5. Launch APEX: it should now starts just fine.

Call me dumb but I have no idea how to download that file.

Can't you just upload the final .dll file we need somewhere so it's easier?

I really don't have a clue on how to download the package.

Edit: Nevermind, found the link.

Well damn. The game now launches.

I have no idea how you came up with that fix but thanks a lot man.

Now they just need to fix the freezing issue.

有没有中国人翻译一下啊 我翻译了还是没多弄明白怎么操作

I really want to know how you found that fix though. :D

Also I hope the anti-cheat won't detect it as a bannable offense to mess with .dll like that.
