How about you go play something else and leave those that enjoy apex to play it.
There is a lot of issues that apex has. But it's not as bad as you make it out to be.
*ironically you talk about this game being "as far as you can get from a competitive shooter" after you say you come back from playing overwatch for two months, a game which is very much mechanical rock-paper-scissors in comp, as well as the fact that apex's competitive scene is getting way more attention than OW's

LMAO bro that was spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LEGEND
it's very much about on-site procurement
A experimental mode from a survival game that can still be refined further. not every BR has to be a dayz clone with ♥♥♥♥ loads of inventory and items and looting each game. it works better in PUBG etc i think apex would work better being more streamlined and removing RNG in the form of diff level health pools (shields) but as i said previously this mechanic allows bad players to sometimes beat better players and win a game. which is what respawn wants to make the game more accessible to casuals. hopefully arenas gets rid of this crap and we have a highly competitive fast paced mode at last where we dont have to walk about looking for guns and ammo.
even looting between games can be done differently; i'd say that looting is streamlined in apex by making items recognisable, making most attachments one-size-fits-all and the HUD telling you which attachments your gun is compatible with
there's only one barrel mod, two stocks, magazines corresponding with ammo types, optics, bolts for shotguns and the hop-ups, so that's about six attachment types with the magazines having the most variation
you mention "RNG in the form of [the body shields]" but i thought that was an issue addressed with the evo shields that incentivise players to fight to get better shields
yeah its better than a lot of games and has improved but 2bh looting in FPS games got old in 2018. as for shields my point is, if 2 even skilled players engage and one has a purple shield and one has white on balance of probability the dude with the purple shield wins and it becomes less about skill and more about the dice roll of loot. by making all shields white no one would have a advantage or disadvantage. then as you said people would have incentive to engage for a higher tier shield endgame and gun fights would feel more balanced and less lopsided without the huge disparity between health pools.
yeah exactly, I've had a fair few fights now where i have dealt 3x the damage the enemy did to me but they won the fight cus they had a higher tier shield. i just don't find that competitive. its all fun and games when its you and that has the advantage but gets old pretty quick when you're out damaging people but loosing cus they got lucky and picked up a higher tier shield. i guess its a nice way to close the huge skill gap you get in fps games and makes it more casual and therefore sell more copies and battle passes etc. I do feel like generally the more skilled players win over all so it has to be fairly competitive but the constant RNG dice roll fights every other game that you lose based on loot and not your ability get old pretty quick.
