If I have a Lifeline on my squad and find a gold bag, I always ping it for her. Helmet, I'll sometimes take to use but in many cases, I give up all gold to my team. Sometimes I fear however, that they don't know what they do and thus becomes pointless.
It's like having a bloodhound who uses his ult, yet never scans. lol.
You can scan every 5 seconds in the heat of battle while in ult. So please, scan, scan and scan some more until your ult is finished.
