Fix for Stuttering, DC & 100% CPU Usage Issues
Howdy all

Like many of you I was plagued with the dreaded 100% CPU issues that caused game breaking stutters, disconnects and lag issues since the new patch launched.

I have done a lot of digging and it would seem it is possibly due to a shaders problem, I am not that tech savvy to know why it is causing 100% CPU usage, but yeah- seems to be the culprit.

I have scoured the realms of Steam Forums, Reddit and EA message boards and after faffing about a LOT, I finally got a fix and now my game is running buttery smooth at around 50-60% CPU usage as normal with basically 0 stuttering or lag.

I'll list in order exactly what i did below, keep in mind this fix is mainly aimed at Nvidia users, but AMD card owners should be able to follow similar steps.

1.) Dive into Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings
2.) Scroll down to the Shader Cache option and turn it off
3.) Hit Apply at the bottom of the window (Do not forget to apply!)
4.) Scroll back up and now turn Shader Cache back on
5.) Hit Apply again
6.) Now you can exit out of Nvidia Control Panel
7.) Now head on over to the install folder for Apex Legends, assuming you are in Steam it should be located on whatever drive you have Steam games installed on, look for the folder that says SteamLibrary > steamapps > common > Apex Legends, open that bad boy up.
8.) Now you want to delete these two files > EasyAntiCheat_Launcher & the folder that says EasyAntiCheat
9. Head back into your Steam Library, find Apex Legends > right click on Properties > Verify Integrity of Game Files and hit OK, Steam will do it's thing and re-install some Anti Cheat stuff that is missing
10. When it has finished, quit Steam and REBOOT PC
11.) Reboot PC and launch Steam, start Apex Legends - From here the game will reinstall EasyAntiCheat and load in, you may get an installing shaders thing pop up or you may not, it shouldn't make a difference either way.
12.) Start a game and fingers crossed, problem should be fixed!

Now, I can't promise this will work for everyone obviously, but after trying everything, doing things in these steps exactly listed above has fixed all my issues.

Hopefully it helps you as well, please drop a comment if you had success (or didn't!)

At the end of the day, an official fix IS coming, but this should get you going in the mean time.

please don't give advice if you don't know what you are doing, why would deleting easy anti cheat help with the case ?

don't do this

YOU ARE NOT DELETING EASY ANTI CHEAT

You are simply removing the files, and letting Steam reinstall them again BEFORE you play, even an EA rep said this was a viable fix.

Turning off Shaders didn't work by itself, for whatever reason reinstalling Easy Anti Cheat AS WELL, did.

Delete EAC and then verify game files on Steam. Steam will detect that EAC is missing and download a fresh, clean version.

In my case I did last week what OP is describing here, plus did the manual override in windows defender and it did help.

I did it all at the same time so not sure WHICH part helped but it did.
Also I've noticed that after Genesis EAC loading time went up a lot for me. So my prime suspect is EAC in this case…

Yep! It seems dumb reinstalling the EAC, but it worked.. for whatever reason

if it didn’t help, you can go to the game settings, put the texture quality on GB 6, it helped me

Dang, sorry mate. Did you make sure you applied the Shaders off and on in Nvidia Control Panel?

thanks dude it does help but after a while it does come back which is intresting as it might be the anti cheat causing all the troubles?

I honestly have no idea! I assumed it was a shaders bug causing CPU to go haywire and game to go nuts. But yeah, who knows- in an official EA thread, a rep did endorse the anti-cheat fix so could be that as well, either way it appears Respawn know and a fix is on thee way according to the rep

Like I said in OG post, not too sure what the AMD version of Nvidia Control Panel is.

That said, maybe give the steps from 7 onwards and reinstall EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) and see if that helps first, seems to have fixed the issue for a bunch of people on the EA forums and Reddit.
