Not enough disk space available to update Apex Legends (63.4 GGB required)

Steam is both saying this update is 6.5 gigs but when I click play it gives me the above message saying the update is 64 gigs. Also I've noticed that nearly every update previously starts out small then balloons into a file that is on average at least 30 gigs. The updates alone have kept me from playing this game for any meaningful amount of time since the game dropped on Steam. I mean updates for this game take up a third of my monthly data allowance just to keep it running.

So yeah once again I can't play this game despite my friends really wanting me to join in.

My advice: Buy a bigger HDD or clean up your disk space.

I figure, the update process, creates a clone of the game files, downloads the patch, patches the copy and then replaces the old files. Because of the big storage requirement, the download cache gets outsourced to my HDD, which makes the update painfully slow...
