Do you need to use Origin launcher at all?

yes every EA game on steam requires it now

i have ea play and every single game i open on steam opens orgin in the background. maybe it will be different when apex comes out who knows

"As confirmed by Respawn developer TheZilch, Apex Legends will launch “directly” with Steam without running Origin. You’ll probably still need to have an EA account to log into the game.
