Who cares about hours played? As long as my my in-game progression and unlocks are there, that's what I care about. But if I have to start all over, I can't switch off from Origin.

You guys do know there is NO difference in server tick rates/game stability or whatsoever right no matter what client you pick its all just the client and for steam maybe some achievements but Ill rather have my original hours ticking on.

Well you can combine the origin hours tracked with the steam hours :) GOG launcher does it automaticlly for you. It even includes played time on Xbox. Give GOG 2.0 a chance ;)

I would even LIKE my stats to be reset. As I sucked in the beginning (bad equipment/ unpractised), but grinded S1 like crazy, my kdr is only moving up very slowly

Who does really care about hours played?
I mean what's in it for that? NOTHING.
The important is that you can link your Origin account to your Steam account, so you'll keep all your legends, ranking, skins, achievements and stats, that's all that really counts.
Since auth will pass through Steam instead of Origin that's a very good thing because sometimes you can't login because of overloaded EA auth servers.
On the other hand I think there's the possibility userbase will grow exponentially once the game will hit Steam, so if they aren't prepared to get more servers up and running this will mean the end of the game because it will become totally unplayable for lag and disconnections.
