Game keeps lagging randomly
My game keeps lagging, I can keep 60 fps for the most part but randomly it'll drop to the 40 fps range for a few seconds without anything being maxed out, and its really distracting. Does anyone know a way to fix it?
I have a i5 9600k, GTX 1060 6GB, And 16GB of DDR4 Ram

But but.... I have overclocks on all my hardware and it doesn't crash me!

I have a RTX2080 and my game is running perfect. Not one issue.

dunno then...im running the 2080ti strix OC with just a little OC...took the OC off and bam...its all gravy nor
The reason this happens is due to the map loading in, as the cpu takes on another load of map rendering, it will slow down your fps for a few moments, the way to fix this is to turn down render distance or turn down pre rendering, or do both.

This actually worked for me, still not perfect but a dramatic difference. Thanks!
It started doing it really bad to me lately and I found that when I disconnected my bluetooth controller and used wired then it went away. So something must be going on with the BT.
I get the regular stutters (60 fps capped at 1440p gtx 1080ti w/ i7 7700k) but it seemingly has little to do with hardware. I monitored the activity and my GPU never maxes out unless I go up to 4k high settings. Occasionally I get this longterm lag that turns the game into a slideshow until eventually just crashing. Again, neither the GPU or CPU are maxed out. Last time it happened was the boss fight with the 9th sister. the random stutters that drop about 15-20 fps just seem to be poor optimization as they happen regardless of running 1440p epic or 1080p med. The game is also made for consoles first and intended to run smoothly at a locked 30 first and foremost so it's not surprising. Not sure about the freezing and crashing though.

I don't play the game on steam but via Origin access, running the game in admin fixes the spikes a little but not much. Also unreal benefits from higher textures fps wise so upping is better than lowering on the texture option. But other than that no fixes till patches...
It may be from Post Processing, if you want, you can disable it completly :

I know this may sound a little crazy. But I noticed severe FPS drops regardless of what my settings were on Medium/High/Epic. I'm running an 8700K + 1080Ti . Here is the weird part. I was playing with the Xbox One X controller via Bluetooth. When I held the controller below my metal desk, I would start seeing FPS drop immediately, raise the controller up magically it goes back to 60 FPS (Frame Locked). I could do it on command. I wonder if there is something going on with the Bluetooth communication from the controller to the input being sampled by the game. I plugged my controller in via the micro usb and I've been playing for hours with the FPS locked at 60 FPS and hasn't budged. I'm running 1440 resolution and Epic settings on everything. GPU utilization sits around 70-80%. If anyone else out there who is experiencing this crazy lag and is using the xbox controller via Bluetooth, try plugging it in directly. Maybe that will fix your problem.

Yeah I had a theory that the lag was actual an attempt to nerf mouse and keeb since controllers aren't actually as responsive.
disable specter meltdown fix in windows 10... there is a tool from gibson research...
Or else use 120 hz monitor with gsync and set frame rate bellow 120 Hz ....
Anyone using an ASUS motherboard and have that Sonic Studio 3 (and Radar) software suite installed? It comes bundled in some of the ASUS motherboard drivers now, and is in the latest mb updates, and I accidentally installed it on my system a few weeks ago when I did a fresh installation of Windows on a new SSD.

That Sonic Studio stuff is crap. It's all over the ASUS forums' boards and other websites, about how it's causing massive lag as well. And it started happening on my pc, so I uninstalled both of those immediately, and it went away. My PC would hang, anywhere from about a half second, to a full 3 seconds! randomly. Made doing anything painful.

So, that's another program that I know for a fact interferes with games. That Acronis True Protection or whatever it's called, that comes bundled with some new Western Digital drives, and now this ASUS Sonic Studio.. smh.

thanks to the people that suggested it, it actually works, using BT controller does cause it to lag, so weird

Actually noticed that as well. I finished the game without the issue resurfacing, so either they patched it or it was the bluetooth communication (I was using the BT Xbone controller as well and noticed the led on it was blinking the first time it happened)
