Shadowlands vines problem

I'm probably an idiot, but I can't advance past one of the wall climbing segments because I have to drop down past a branch and re-grab the wall with vines. Am I forgetting some simple mechanic or is my game bugging out?

For specificity this is just the second wall segment after the rebreather gift and sliding down the mud ramp after Origin Lake.

It seems like that one might be bugged. Instead of jumping straight ahead, jump to the right so you can land at the lower section right away.
