and yes, the single blade does much more damage and is ideal for 1 on 1 fights. using the double on bosses is just inefficient.
obviously this isn't "lore friendly" but in this case i think its a fair sacrifice for the sake of balance.
also if you want you can cheese the last boss by spamming force push. you get 2 free hits after every push.
(Supplement)
Besides Exar Kun, double bladed lightsabers limit your field of movement, while people practiced in single light sabers have a much wider field of movement. They are able to lock down a double bladed foe with a much stronger defense and go in for the kill. Again the exception to this was Exar Kun who could control the length of the double bladed lightsaber allowing him to make movements impossible for any other user.
Legends - Exar Kun, Bastila Shan and many more but most ppl here didnt play in KOTOR and care about Legends than i will not write more about them.
In canon Double bladed user can fight with multiple opponents like Maul in Phantom Menace - but ofc everything depends from the user - Darth Maul was very skilled and trained by best duelist of his era Darth Sidious and in game you play as a dumb padawan who dont know how to pull and push at start :p
I STILL play KOTOR from time to time, in fact playing this gave me the urge to play it again...so I did lol. KOTOR was, and still is, a great game. Especially with all the mods for it over at Deadly Stream.
It is like saying that sai are better than a katana. Or a katana is better than sai.
Sai were made to disarm sword and staff users. Doesnt mean they always won.
It is personal preference. All weapons have pros and cons. And those pro and cons are affected by the user as well. Not every person will necessarily share all the same pros and cons on a given weapon. Speaking realistically.
I think the same laws should apply fictionally where lore is concerned. But when it comes a game this doesnt always apply. Sometimes things are unbalanced and one is better over the other. In this game it is pretty balanced.
I like single blade for bosses/tougher enemies at 1v1. It is preference
Anyway. Yes that is my point our thoughts are subjective as are our experiences. So the question is flawed as it cannot be answered.
Again sorry for my lack of consideration.
