"There was a problem with your game's setup. please reinstall"
Hey i have this problem with the game that im having trouble fixing. Whenever i try to open the game i just receive a pop-up saying ""There was a problem with your game's setup. please reinstall"".

for the past 2 days i have tried every single fix i could find but none of them have worked so far. I have of course tried reinstalling it multiple times..................I have also contacted EA support multiple times but have come up empty handed. So i'm writing this post in hopes that anyone out there has had this issue and been able to fix it. Just ask for any information and i will provide it....

if your running the old version of steam(old UI) it wont work

you need the "new library" to even launch the game in steam

i had that issue when i first brought the game, and only by updating to the "new library' was i able to launch the game

once u launch it, it will link it to your origin account, then u can just revert back to the old steam, and launch it in origin

thats if your using the old client, if your on the newest version of steam then i wouldnt have a clue

Before playing for the first time... make sure you have Origin installed, an account setup, and you remember the password. In your Origin directory, right-click on EALink.exe. Select Properties. Select the Compatability Tab. Click the Change High DPI Settings button towards the bottom. Check the box near the bottom for Override high DPI scaling behavior. Select System from the drop down. Click Okay. If you have a high DPI monitor and you don't do this (or haven't and are stuck) you may not be able to play the game as the Origin link gets stuck in a fault loop.

I had the same problem. Reinstalled the game thrice and it didn't help (what a waste of bandwidth).

The solution was to go to

SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Jedi Fallen Order\__Installer\directx\redist

and install the directX that comes with it. Then play with the desktop icon and it just works.

It is worth mentioning that I installed the game on a different SSD drive than my C:\ drive.

+1 to this solution.

Recording this for anyone who may run into this problem in 2023 and beyond. I had this same error trying to play JFO on Steam Deck via the EA app (Origin). All I had to do was open up the game page in Desktop Mode and click Manage > View Properties > Browse under Install Location. Follow OP's fix and it works instantly.
