Be honest with me here:
Is this game in any way similar to Armored Core 4/Armored Core:FA? I loved those games, and unfortunately cannot play them anymore due to them not having PC versions. Been looking for a game similar to it for a long time.

Yes, I know the game is its own thing, but how similar is it? I can tell from the vids that there is plenty of flying in it, but what about quick-boost and over-boost functions? And how extensive is parts customization of the mechs? And, be honest here, how is the game overall from an aesthetic standpoint.

Is it worth the money, or should I wait for a sale?

It's a lite version of those games, with the armor design leaning towards FA.

there isn't unfortunately, and there is no indication that 6 won't be another V and VD if Miyazaki ever stops making soulsborne

Yeah, really wish he'd get over this soulsborne obsession. Its kinda starting to show with some of the later titles (nothing terrible, but the quality is slipping).

And AC V was trash, yes.

Honestly it's worth the buy. I love AC, and it's satisfies my hunger for a new Mech game that isn't MW

Depends on what you mean "similar".
1. Similar in a general direction (Like AC-Like game concept)
2. Or similar in specific gameplay/stage/control/style/design like AC4 and FA( both are also different in many ways)

Answer
1 Yes.
2 No

-The mech design style is vastly different than 4 and FA. It is less mechanical but more like an warrior with weapons (think of Gundam Iron-Blooded). So there aren't reverse joints, tank, hover and other types of legs.

-No over boost. You have mirage system and 3 forms of buff instead.
Mirage system = Literally Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. You have an AI controlled doubles to help you when needed, activating it will use your femto gauge.
3 forms of buffs each has it's own gauges.
1. assault = increase attack
2. speed = faster booster, also act as an additional booster gauge, you can somewhat treat this as a slower but more agile overboost.
3. defence = barrier
You can only activate one of them at a time.
You can use them in ways like using speed mode to get close to enemy then switch to assault for attack.

-The boosting control is vastly different than 4/FA, when you press jump(boost) in the mid air you activate flying mode, you have unlimited flying time(no stamina cost) . The height is harder to control because you need to
1 deactivating flying mode then free fall but activating it again will grant you a bump in height.
2 using downward booster(occupy a slot)
3 slowly glide/boost your way down
Generally speaking there are less boost control than FA.

-Flying speed is much slower than FA. If you mean similar to FA's speed. NO.
This is "slow" compare to FA.

-Customization, the removal of various legs really remove some of the quirky combination in previous AC. It depends on how much you love those combination in the past.
I personally missed reversed joints and tank part alot. Things like using different legs will have different firing mode. But since they are going for that "warrior" theme, so the style and customization is more streamlined and limited. However you still have some new toys and new weird weapons to play with.

There are also many other differences.
It is AC-like compare to other mech games, but it is definitely not AC4 or ACFA.
If you want a FA experience specifically, this is probably not that FA experience.

The pace isnt as fast as AC4 as you know unlike AC4 you still have a lock on sight which is determined by your head unit, mechanical design wise as Shoji Kawamori is back in the helm (ACs 1-3 with a bit of 4, Aaliyah and fA’s White Glint are his) the feels are similar, I hant tried doing Human Plus run yet I dunno... if it will feel similar to ACfA at that point

As for overboost no their arent cores that give you that ability the closest on you get is the hermes auxiliary part

In DXM, everything is extremely primitive. You can go through the game without changing anything. Unfortunately this game has no depth. All the details are essentially like in a diablo game, a little cooler than the previous one. In the AC it was necessary to approach the choice wisely and the early details came in handy throughout the game. This game has no tactics with the selection of details. The gameplay is too primitive.

was kinda hoping DS3 to be the last, but then Sekiro became a soulslike instead of a tenchu game (which was also another IP From abandoned for soulsborne)

And Elden ring (whatever that's going to be) is coming next.

Almost all of that is wrong, and what is right isn't bad.

will most likely be another soulsborne based on what was said around it and by GRRM

Eh, Sekiro is less soulslike than you'd think. It's so much more aggressive, there's no PVP, healing kinda stinks compared since most attacks 2 shot you, and the reclaiming souls after death analogue feels more like an afterthought. Parry is the name of the game, and stealth kills are super important. I'd say it's a meeting of Souls and Tenchu at worst.

Abbreviations can be very confusing and excluding for many people.
I suggest using the full title to minimize confusion and save everybody's time.
I take it that you were talking about Armored Core
