Recruitable Companions (Possible spoilers)
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has managed to find special companions. So far I've found Soltan at the Abandoned Farm, did the quest to assist her against the orcs in the cave and she joined.

Martina joined after assisting Garold in the refugee quest. When done with the Warden Forest, go back to the refugee camp then afterwards she can be found in Brea.

Fiorella I'd assume joins if you take the Tullio path in the refugee questline.

I ran into Phoebe once and remember in alpha she could be recruited, if anyone knows how to recruit her in 1.0 I'd appreciate some tips on how to do so.

I've also noticed every once in awhile at the taverns there are special companions with unique portraits, they have their own entries in the compedium as well. One thing to note they do cost plenty of gold. Anywhere from 10 gold pieces to 50.

I know there are a few other special companions, if anyone has any information on how to recruit special companions and would like to share, please feel free to do so.

OFFICIAL COMPANIONS

Soltan - Brutewoman at Abandoned Farm. Gotta do a quest that can be a bit challenging for the level at which you find her but it's doable

Martina/Fiorella - Mutually Exclusive(So far) depending on how you approach the Missing Refugee questline. Martina if you side with Garold, Fiorella if you side with Tullio. I REALLY hope they let us recruit both somehow in the future.

Aldus - Elf Thief recruited during the Green Leaves guild questline

Lysanthir - Elf Mage recruited during Wild Mage guild questline

Sir Edward - Human Knight recruited during the White Steed questline. In the last quest make sure you side with White Steed unless you have good Persuasion. Otherwise Edward turns on you. But if you persuade him you can find him at Silverrun Tavern and he'll have new unique armor that would look really cool if it wasn't glitched. It's his normal whiterun armor, but with a robe and hood. But all the helmets clip through the hood in an ugly way. And even if you hide the helmet his hair clips through it in a really ugly way.

Pheobe - Human Mage. You get her in Banshee Gully, southwest of Silverrun so you'll probably want to be decently leveled(20-30ish depending on your build and skill) before you head down to get her.

Takam - Berserker Dwarf at Big Market. Probably the easiest to recruit. Just pay him and talk him into quitting his current job.

Alia - Ranger Human you get at Castle Thinwood

Teodulo - Might be mispelling his name, but he's a human pirate you have to free from indentured servitude at Pirate Island.

QUEST GLADIATOR/MERCENARIES
(They participate in noteworthy quest lines, and afterwards they usually go into the Tavern Mercenary pool of random Mercs appearing at Taverns or Gladiators. I don't know if you can ever hire them if they become Gladiators)

Lin - Samurai girl from Ronin Questline. As long as you don't help Big Market attack the Ronin, she goes into the Merc/Gladiator pool no matter what you decide. As long as she wins the duel at the end. And i think she always wins the duel.

Yu Lian - Chinese Sword lady from the Battle Monk questline. She goes into the Merc/Gladiator pool no matter what but if you side with her you get the Scroll for her Swordsmanship class. If you side against her you get the Battle Monk scroll, which is better overall IMHO.

Bastien - Ranger-type Human goes into the pool no matter what you choose at the end of the Castle Curtis Questline.

Buruma - A somewhat unique case. She's the Brutewoman that Orcmaster wants you to hunt down. Find her in the village South of Silverrun. Be careful when you talk to her. Save first. Avoid any options that force her to fight you because I assume you cant recruit her if she's dead(But the game is super buggy, so who knows? lol). Hear her side of the argument, then leave. Go free Orcmaster's prisoners by fighting his gladiators. Afterwards, go back to and tell Buruma that Orcmaster will leave her alone. Buruma leaves and then goes into the Mercenary pool. But she doesn't have a Unique Portrait like the others do.

Annie Seaflower and Diego - I don't know for sure if these two go into the Mercenary Pool since their questline on Pirate Island is currently bugged for me and I can't complete it. But assuming they survive I assume they will go into the merc/gladiator pool.

UNIQUE MERCENARY POOL
(These characters are floating around in random Taverns from the start of the game, if you can afford them. They usually charge somewhere between 10-20 gold to hire)

Xue Fei - Basically the male version of Yu Lian, and his backstory is that he's a beta orbiter simp for Yu Lian who followed her across the world hoping to smash. lmao. I'm only mildly exaggerating. First time I saw him was right after I recruited Yu Lian. I tried talking to him with her but he didn't even react. :(

Yizayoi - Ronin lady. Possibly bugged in that you can recruit her from the Tavern menu but can't actually talk to her. She still fully functions as a mercenary though, and the bug might just be for me.

Kureha - Another Samurai girl. Has the only Katana in the game that uses both One-Hand/Two-Hand skills, like a Bastard Sword.

Adelaide - Barbarian Knight lady with a huge and strong 2h Sword and heavy Knight armor.

Lavinia - Gladiator-themed girl. Her armor looks Light but is actually heavy and she has a legendary Short Sword/Buckler.

Master Something - I Forgot his name but he's a cool looking Battle Monk who I saw in Taverns twice in the early game, and have not seen again ever since.

Lorren - Elven Archer guy. He's a bit weird in that in appeared in the Castle Curtis Tavern, which is one of the few taverns where you can NOT view recruits from the World Map menu. You have to walk into the tavern and either speak to him directly, or ask the owner to see the recruit menu from there. I only noticed him after i took ownership of the castle so I don't know if he was there beforehand. The Castle Curtis tavern mercenaries never seems to change like the other Taverns refresh once a week.

There are many other interesting characters who MIGHT be possible recruits like the Chinese Spear guy Yin Dameng. He has a whole unique class which you can technically give yourself through Save Editing but it's kind of buggy.

But i've only ever seen him as a Gladiator so i'm not sure he's ever available as a mercenary

I've also seen other unique Gladiators like a Dwarven fighter named Mous, a human assassin named Jack Gouger, a Bruteman barbarian named Galu and several others who's names I cant remember. But thus far I have only ever seen those appear as Gladiators.

Phoebe: Banshee Gully, should do with Wildmage Guild quest to recruit Lysanthir too
Soltan: Abaddon farm near Brea, east of farmer house, on the hill.
Lysanthir: 2nd quest of Wildmage Guild

For alia there IS a black door in the kitchen After go in thé gardent to reach thé door to thé tower down IS a Trap to a cave with Monster thé door IS locked i manage to unlock with 4 lockpick skill i had a lot of lockpick in case

Is Soltan supposed to join after we finish helping her in the cave at abandoned farm? My Soltan ran off to Greyhills immediately saying she wanted to report and now at Greyhills she is just standing outside the Bruteman camp only have one line "can't talk right now"

Yes, Soltan is supposed to join you after helping her in the cave. One thing of note, I chose to spare the orcs which came with a persuasion check for Soltan. I passed the persuasion check, not sure if that has anything to do with the result. Soltan joined my party after sparing the orcs in the cave. Just a few dialogue options, one mentions her joining for adventures now that she has nowhere else to go.

As for the others, I've managed to recruit Phoebe, Lysanthir, and Takam. So if you need any assistance with recruiting those let me know and I'll try to offer help.

I'm new to the game and only did one playthrough with my Ronin. I guess my Soltan is no longer recruitable than.. she just standing outside their camp. As to how I solved the quest with Soltan, I think I went in with just Martina and Soltan, 3 person vs the whole cave with similar levels level 14-15 iirc. I didn't spare anyone.. was that the reason? It was the hardest fight I had early on the game.

Currently I'm level 35 and only found out where Greyhills is after going through all other places and remembered about Soltan.

I recruited Takam, haven't recruited the other two you've mentioned.

Also is Lin, ex member of Ghost Lotus recruitable? After the whole quest at Ronin Camp, she just say she want's to go out solo. I actually like her character design and as a fighter, she's a beast.

At level 35 you might be high enough level to do the quest required to recruit Phoebe. First, you need to have met her at Clement's tower in Breawoods. Next, you go to Banshee Gully though I recommend you go to WIldmage Tower first as Snowpeak recommended. The first quest for the WIldmages association is in Banshee Gully so it shows a map marker with an exclamation point for Banshee Gully. It is also one of two quests required to recruit Lysanthir.

For Lin, I'm not sure, however the tab with the compendium information (monsters, people and such,) shows which recruitable companions you've ran into. If they are recruitable they appear on a tab marked Companions or something similar to that. Beneath it is a tab with notable NPC's.

For Lin, after you complete Devil in Kiren, she become available at tavern for recruit

Thanks for the intels. I did met Phoebe, iirc she just say going to find her master or something and forgotten about her. I think I'm over level for early quest now been just playing around with random stuffs next thing I know I'm already lvl 35 while I still have rescue refugee by Garold, lol.

Oh god, I hope she didn't decide to be an outlaw and gotten killed by some dark knight or bandits.

She randomly appear in taverns, try your luck in any city you come, in my game I met her at Silverrun

Ah! She did say will wander around.. thanks for giving me hope in getting her again. Thought that's the last I ever see her after the final showdown with *cough*..

She's a good girl, please.. I hope she's not serial killer like me by now xD
