So... all 4 food options are cheap and easy to get, possibly even in space...
Sounds about right for a company that may eventually wipe itself out via one more more of the 7 Deadly Sins...
(I'm also getting a slight Warhammer 40k "dark age of technology" vibe here...)
1: Chicken? Cheap animal to raise, very efficient in terms of feed weight eaten vs. meat yielded. Probably fed insects, among other things...
2: Plastic free*? I don't think they are talking about 'edible' wrappers/packaging... Why would there be plastic in it in the first place? *cough*fillers*cough*
3: Vegetarian? Aeroponics comes to mind, minimal water needed, and is a great choice for use in space. On the topic of Algae... Based on the new opening... there is a hint that it may also include high energy plankton...*cough*Soylent Green*cough*
4: Plants 'and' insects? Two cheap and easy to get foods together. Multiple survival games come to mind, where insects are one of the easier food sources to get... Again, based on the new opening... Lynx 'could' possibly use... some questionable 'recycling' methods for... organic 'waste'... as a cost saving measure... an old movie called Damnation Alley (and one other whose name escapes me right now) also comes to mind... some insects are good at picking bones clean... and one other game with survival elements has bone powder as an ingredient for making fertilizer...
*Warning, 'plastic free' food does not include a guarantee the food will be free of metals, heavy metals, toxins, inedible fibrous materials (e.g. carbon fiber), radioactive materials (e.g., nuclear waste), medical waste, carcinogens, chemical waste, used motor lubricant, inedible organic materials (e.g., inedible chitinous insect parts with no nutritional value) and/or engine coolant, and 'may' contain recycled organic material (*cough*WH40k*cough*Hiveworlds*cough*CorpseStarch*cough*), high energy plankton, and other organic and/or inorganic (non-polymer based) compounds deemed safe for consumption by animals, and are deemed to cause no (short term) health issues (based on officially accepted research documents as cleared and certified by Lynx approved scientific research labs)... :P
Which makes me suddenly think of an old movie.
Silent Running.
Of ships with large 'domes' that orbit the sun to grow plants and raising animals... I wonder if such a ship, of a flying 'green house', might ever make an appearance in game... even as something to salvage. Lots of glass (or with sun lamps, and either some form of solar panels or larger than normal reactor), lots of aeroponics racks, plenty of 'food pack' type items, oxygen cylinders (might as well 'recycle' CO2 with the plants while they are at it), etc.
Note that most likely you are already eating plastic on a regular basis IRL. Many studies on modern day plastic pollution conclude that, due to the amount of plastic waste that has entered the food cycle thanks to industrialized nations dumping it in the ocean, most people ingest a small lego-block's worth of micro-plastic every single month, which can add up to 20kg of plastic over a lifetime.
Honestly, LYNX's future may be healthier than what we have today.
