Kaito is the only worker who deserves nice things in life aside from 52.
"Just use the atmosphere controls, idiot! It is a puzzle! Don't just wildly breach things!"
"But 52, they are already broken!"
"Uh...You see...working atmosphere controls are for babies, and you need to be ready to wildly breach things."
"But you just said-"
"Now remember, you have to pull the lever to vent fuel. You never just yank them off!... What is taking you so long?"
"I can't find a lever, 52. I tried all my scanner modes and everything!"
"Uh... you see... those fuel tanks on pipes don't have a lever, you just yank them off."
"But you just said-"
In hindsight, this is probably why some people get so angry at Kaito. To get mad at Kaito means you have to think about what he did wrong. To think about what he did wrong means to think about how the game actually works. To think about how the game actually works
I mean, one of the postgame chats the crew, not hal, is yelling at him for looting electronics materials as "doing it wrong". You know, the same materials you used to fix your ship.
Nobody on the crew yells at me when I loot that ♥♥♥♥, hell I've gotten mini-me stickers after destroying forklifts and assorted for personal gain. The crew praises me for it, gives me a big pretty speech before the end credits roll for it. But it is a dumb idiot problem when Kaito does it, because...??? (well okay, because he does not have his own ship to stuff the loot into. But it still made me laugh at the time at how hypocritical it was.).
Some of us old EA cutters just have a bit more self awareness of the work process. After all, how could I have given the above examples you quoted without knowing how the game actually works?
For real. They're making it sound more complex than it is by being bad at explaining it.
Some people just think that in order to be stupid or incompetant you have to also be a jerk. They think if someone is nice then they should just get an unlimited number of screwups. Kai isn't cut out to be a shipbreaker. As someone with 14 years experience working in these kinds of labor and construction environments, Brannagan is 100% right: Kai isn't the type of guy who is doted on and protected by his coworkers, he's the guy who pisses everyone else off because he can't do anything.
