5k hrs in and now the game is Broken??
Since this new update, whenever I start a new run everything loads in slowly. I'll click a character and his family tree is blank and then after 4-5 seconds everything loads in slowly. Animations are slow and rigid now for some reason and opening the royal court is a black screen for abt 10 seconds. I've cleansed my storage of ck3 twice, deleted all my mods, and it still keeps happening. It's a shame hopefully they can fix it because nothing abt my setup has changed. Guess I'll be playing Kenshi some more now :amigo1:

I had the same problem, and it's actually a really simple fix. There's two new settings in the Graphics tab (IN-GAME) that specifically offload things loading until you need to (Illustration and Mesh streaming). If I had to guess, it's probably the Mesh Streaming causing the character and Royal Court to take so long to load. Turn those off, and it *should* fix it for you. It has nothing to do with mods, the launcher, etc. It's an in-game setting.

I think that’s the problem with the Paradox Launcher ( collects your data ). Since I updated the PDX Launcher, it has gotten worse in terms of performance. I’m having the same issues.
I think they might be scaling up their data collection or something, because even when the PDX Launcher is idle, it uses around 2 GB of RAM for no apparent reason.

It would be great if someone could look into this and, if it turns out to be true, potentially make a YouTube video about it.
Which graphics card do you use?

my options were my default and something called Vulkan. I switched to Vulkan and it got worse

2070 super
Vulkan was really slow for me, DirectX is much better, for this game at least. Strangely for Baldur's Gate 3 it was the other way around.

ck3 used to load all models/textures when you open the game, this way it takes absurd amount of time to start (like 10 mins on weaker pc).
Now it loads stuff only when you encounter it in game, so game starts singnificantly faster (and theoretically is less demanding), but it takes seconds to load new objects when you see them for the first time.

It is supposed to happen only when you open court for the first time in session (mb if you don't open it for a long time too - game can unload models to save memory), subsequent tries it should be just like it used to be in previous versions

Try playing with an external mod manager.

I mean could it be that CK3 switched to integrated graphics card instead of discrete one? Have you checked?
