Final Fantasy XV Stuff
I apologize if these were brought up in previous threads (though I searched this forum and tech support for anything, and could find nothing), but in regards to FFXV, is it recommended to go through SKIF global injection or via the standalone files on the FFXV forums? I ask because I noticed in injecting that: 1.) The area you select to lower the priority of threads is doubled; 2.) If I install a wrapper and relaunch the game (both with SKIF version), it causes my graphics driver (nVidia 442.59) to make the screen double what it shows, turn gray, and I get a lot of random bars and graininess, until I restart the computer.

The game runs fine with SKIF at 60 FPS and recommended flip model values, otherwise. Oh, and here's a pic of what I mean by the thread priorities "doubling." It's honestly a non-issue in my eyes, but you just never know with some users. Unless I did something wrong!

Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's a bug I never bothered to fix ;) The mod still works as designed, it just wound up in a parallel universe where the UI exists twice :P

I re-designed the plug-in system, and that goofy game fix needs updating for the new design.

Be aware, that global injection does not catch all of the threads in FFXV, you need local injection in order to tune the priority of the filesystem thread.

Really, what you want to do if you use a new version of Special K for that game is crank the swapchain backbuffers up to 5 or 6, turn on flip model and enable a waitable swapchain.

Use those swapchain settings, ignore the HDR craziness :)

Thanks for the prompt reply, Kaldaien! I did as you instructed, but after I installed the local wrapper and relaunched the game, my GPU went on the fritz. I wish I could have captured a screenshot of it, but the best way to describe it is the screen went all gray and lines were everywhere, and the image on the screen doubled.

I'm going to try DDU-ing and reinstalling my GPU driver, see if that does anything. If you have any idea what could possibly be causing it, though, please let me know! Thanks again!

Update: It must be the driver conflicting with the local injection in some way. I'll have to try a more recent GPU driver, see if it still does it.

Update 2: Well, good news is that the most recent nVidia driver doesn't have that oddball issue 442.59 did with the local injection.

The problem at the moment right now, and I know you addressed this in another thread (on the SpecialK community forum, I want to say), but... FFXV suddenly got reeeeeeally bright (and I don't have HDR on). Any ideas? :D

No. I don't think HDR should enable itself on normal systems, but... check the INI file for a line called Use16BitSwapChain, also another line for 10-bit. Turn both of them off.

I checked. They're both set to false. Still bright! :(

Update: Good news. I installed the REAL latest GPU drivers (I guess they were released under my nose), and the brightness is gone. I guess it must have been something to do with the Windows 10 feature update. But anyway, thank you, Kaldaien for all your work, and for having taken the time to assist me! <3

Do you have any problems of special k not injecting into FFXV? It works in all my other games except this.

No, I do not, Noctis. Sorry I can't be of more help.

FF XV had an update, so imagine Special K doesn't work for it, but I hear reports that the stutters are gone now on that game.

SKIF works for FFXV. The only problem I honestly ran into was some graphics anomaly with installing a local wrapper DLL while on 442.59 for my 1060 6GB. Doesn't occur in the latest drivers, but if you alt-tab with flip model on while using the latest, the screen gets bright until you go back in the game. Seems to be only with FFXV, though.

But yeah, SKIF works with FFXV.

i had serious problems with the latest Nvidia driver. using 446.14 should fix your problem

446.14 fixed the anomaly, but the brightness returned.

I think it's something goofy with the latest Win 10 feature update.

go into your windows display and disable HDR if its enabled. then try running the game again..if that fails..the only other things i can suggest is to either customise the brightness and contrast in Nvidia control panel was in game or use reshade and make a custome preset using fake HDR and lightroom

forgot to mention that its fake HDR in Reshade. so if you do not have HDR. you can still use the tool. it works well with getting rid of brightness along side lightroom. both are in the latest version of reshade. if your still having brightness issues you might want to try this.

Yeah, no, I'm not even capable of using HDR. But it's only if I alt-tab in 451.xx, so it's minor. 446.14, though, makes it constantly bright -- edit: only when I install the local wrapper.

I noticed that as well but didn't think much of it as it only happens when the game isn't the currently active window so it doesn't really matter as it doesn't seem to have any other adverse effects.
