Game can't recognize my controller (dualshock 4)

Keyboard and mouse works fine. But it's werid when I try using dualshock 4 as input. Every other game on steam works just fine. But when playing HZD, it only recognizes input from left analog stick very intermittently (only makes one action per 2-3 seconds). I'm using DS4Windows and steam controller configuration.

from what I was reading on the PCGamingWiki, you should only need to use Steam's controller configuration. Try launching the game in Big Picture Mode and editing the controller layout, or using a community layout

Game uses Steam Input, you won't be able to get any controller working unfortunately.

You can buy it on Epic Game Store instead if you want to use a gamepad.

You can also crack the Steam version and run it through Goldberg instead of Steam, and gamepad works. But that's frankly silly.

The ♥♥♥♥ are you on about? Plays fine with all three controllers I tested. xbox one, switch pro and gulikit king kong pro 2.

As a followup: Not only do ps4 controllers work, the game displays the correct inputs for them when using one.

I have a logitech gamepad that worked when I played this game last year but suddenly only mouse and keyboard work. My gamepad no longer works...

Most common thing I've seen fix controllers not working in this game, other than being sure steam input is enabled, is actually reinstalling steam.

Don't need to re-download your library or anything. Just uninstall and reinstall the client its self.

Yeah, I'm still not clear on what exactly causes that problem for some people. In spite of kaldaien's claims, you CAN use controllers with this game it's just weird sometimes.
