Here's some key points to level fast:
Always be in a group and always have the Inspiration Perk maxed out and equipped. If you do not do this then you will not level up very fast.
Do missions. When you first start I think there's 4 or 5 "Main Missions" in your Pipboy. While I'm sure there's an actual order to them based on content release dates they can be done at any time and in any order. Following these are a great way to get xp as well as important rewards. My suggestion is to maybe follow the Brotherhood of Steel questline first because by the end you'll have one of the best rewards in the game that will stay with you forever.
Do events. Even at a low level you should be jumping on the weekly events like the Meat Week currently going on. I missed out on the first event when I started because I was afraid I was too low level but if I knew then what I know now I would've gone to them right away. Other Public Events I might avoid unless level specific but I'll say this: when you eventually hit level 50 do Moonshine Jamboree whenever it pops up. Between level 50 and 100 I would level up at least twice each time I did that event.
Lastly: do everything in the game. Build a camp. Then find a better spot for it, tear it down and rebuild a new one. Do that at least a half-dozen times. Also build gear. Constantly upgrade your weapons and armor whenever you level up. If you follow the main quest you'll get plans for most basic gear as rewards so you should constantly be upgrading everything until you hit level 50. That's when all gear levels are maxed and you'll be creating permanent stuff. But in the meantime constantly make items even if all you do is scrap them right away. Because you pretty much get XP for everything in this game. Every gun you craft and every chair you put in your camp gives you XP.
Hitting level 50 should take maybe a week or two if your fully optimizing your XP gains. Inspiration perk plus x4 XP bonus for being on a team are two of the easiest ways to level up.
Get on a casual team that is running expeditions. Two expeditions get you from level 1 to level 24. From then on you are getting anywhere from 4-8 levels per expedition.
If I start a second CAMP site and make it the active one, what happens to the first one?
Like If I switch back to the first one would I have to re-place everything as if I had moved it?
Or would all my stuff still be built it, just wouldn't be there if not active?
I want to try out other locations, but my OG camp is very built up and in an okay location already and I don't want to destroy that before settling on a new location.
And one more thing: If you have 2 camps the one that's active will be highlighted and your inactive camp will still be on the map but it will be gray. IIRC there's a time limit to how many times you can activate a camp but I think it's once every 30 minutes. Another thing: if you have a camp all set up and decide to relocate it without tearing it down most of your structures (and this includes planted crops) will automatically store as blueprints. This means you can just plop down a building into your new camp. Personally I just scrap it from the stored menu so I can start from scratch.
where can i see who does expeditions?
Research all the XP foods you can make early game then get the Herbivore mutation to double that food bonus.
Use magazines and Lunchbox's for more XP boost. (only do this one if you know you have an XP grinding team helping you for that time limit to maximize XP gain)
Join a team with a player sharing the xp boost perk if you dont have it yet.
Then farm WestTek solo in between teaming for Expeditions and some Events. Not all global events have awesome XP, but Eviction Notice is great to farm lots of random legendaries and Radiation Rumble is very good for XP. Theres a few others that are ok, but not as good as the ones mentioned.
And as a bonus you should be able to farm ammo in those expeditions saving you the need to craft it.
Good luck, have fun
You need to unlock Expeditions by completing Responders Reborn

Some of his key strategies:
- Level up Intelligence to get more XP.
- Use XP-boosting buffs and consumables; too many to list here; see https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Experience_Points#Fallout_76
- Join teams to unlock fast travel points and discover locations faster, so you'll spend fewer caps and less time travelling.
- Get ALL mutations as soon as possible; this took half hour in the above video starting from 42:20.
- Mooch off of high-level players in public events, daily ops, expeditions, etc. to get better rewards. High-level players bring high-level enemies and more XP for you.
If you have some caps in your pocket, another easy source of experience chunks is taking a workshop. Claim it and hide nearby. Don't bother fighting or defending it. Once the claim completes, you get a nice chunk of experience, plans and resources. Take your spoils and leave the workshop area asap. Once you've taken what you can, server hop and repeat.
Edit: For clarification, claiming a workshop has a cap cost to it. When the claim completes, you get most of the caps back as part of the reward but you will see a small deficit.
If you find a server that is active with events/expos, use the group features that give you experience bonuses to events and expos. Don't underestimate these because they can give you far more experience than the casual intelligence bonus.
If you want to grind npcs for experience, join a casual group and stick to super mutants. They give the most experience per kill as well as resources.
One thing I would recommend is making sure you pick a weapon type and gameplay style and stick with it to start with. Once you get to the higher levels you can swap builds, but early on if you switch weapon types or playstyles too much, your character will be spread too thin and will lack damage, survivability or both. I'd recommend a stealth commando build. Just look up a guide on youtube(make sure its beginner friendly) and start leveling up the perks in that build, take the time to find the beginner version of the weapon type(obvi you may not get The Fixer right off the bat, so start with the automatic combat rifle and pick up and scrap every single combat rifle you find to unlock the mods for it).
Hope this helps, I am really loving this game and am addicted to it :) Started playing because of the show and now I can't stop!
