Any advise on Wendigo cave?
Help! I spent all my ammo at the last boss Morris Stevens... and now I am more than just frustrated.

Is there a strategy for this boss? I am on level 20.

PS. At least I was able to kill all those mirelurks.

Thank you!

Since you were able to kill the Mirelurk Kings, your gear should be quite decent.

In any case, usually for wendigoes, I like to kite around them and bait for the scream.

When they scream, similar to the Assaultron laser beam, they are stuck in animation for a short while which is good for you to deal damage if you are to its sides or back.

Just keep kiting around it and you should be able to do well given your gear should be ok for it.

That said, if you feel like your gear is not good enough, you can grind a bit.

Also, I remember there are some pillars in the room (if I remember correctly), you can use them to play run around the pillar with the progenitor wendigo too.

You should have played the story line in the proper order instead of skipping around.
Flatwoods (Responder training)
Morgantown (Advanced Responder Training)
Charleston (Innoculation and join Firebreathers)
Ash Heap (build Excavator Power Armor for protection or mining)
Savage Divide (Search for Madigan)
Mires (Help Abby)
Cranberry Bog (join BOS)
Whitesrping (Join Enclave)

You also fix Toxic Valley and the Wayward quest chain in there somewhere.

Power Armor is your friend here. Even an Excavator is a gamechanger. Also, I think the Scream attack counts as Explosive Damage, so Fireproof should help. If you don't have Blocker yet, that changes things dramatically. As you are in close quarters, Shotguns work wonders. Vats head shots will stun them once you do enough damage. Or you can target the legs to slow them down.
Hope this helps.

If you need any help add me as I can feel your pain. The way I did it was pretty cheesy I got the mirelurk king right near the windigo cave to follow me in and had the two attack me at the same time. Once I died the mirelurk king fought the windigo and it did around 80% health and i managed to one shot it with a sneak shot at level 18.

You are too weak, need friend(kill ghouls and mireluk and the togheter kill wendigo) or solo power armor, fat man and lucky enough to have a fight between mirelurk king vs wendigo. During the fight, i nuked them and took part of the code. I think that to get the code you still have to take part in killing the wendigo.(I was not at a high level and I was lucky after many attempts)

Lol your facing off this character at level 20? your problem is the map is broken up into player level appropriate areas and a level 20 is best Toxic valley then Ash Heap. Man I didn't even go into the Savage Divide much before level 40.

One piece of advice, I did manage harder level enemies using plasma grenades which are very powerful. I typically used and handful of those against bosses until I reached level 60.

I'm impressed you took out those Mirelurk Kings at Lvl 20.

There were no kings, they were at L24. Are they called kings? I don't even remember, because I gave up at 9 am in the morning.

Is this quest easier if I ask on Discord for players joining a group?

I am not even sure if I was skipping around, because I followed the breadcrumb quests.

the king is not like crab more like humanoid amphibious monster

Are wendigos capable of being shut down by crippling their legs? I think they can. Try using VATS to cripple his legs. That should make it easier. If it works like ghouls (And I think the same properties apply) he will be unable to move once you get them.

That said if he's legendary he will mutate and heal them, necessitating another run at it.

Wendigoes took me to the cleaners the first couple of times I fought them at your level. I didn't get around to that fight until I was level 50. They are legit a tough enemy for low levels.

At L50 this quest is much easier? I am afraid that the enemies scale up.

I get it, the bread crumbs will scatter you all the hell over the map. My first character was all over the map and the story was really fragmented. My second I did in the order above and the story made a whole lot more sense and pained a much better picture.

Like the farmhouse just below the vault can send you off to Abby's Bunker. Not a good idea, to be in the Mires at that level, but it is available.

Could people please add me ingame?

I just want to finish this quest and then return to the recommended lower level quests.

I am level 55 or so, and not a great player, but persistent. I could barely even scratch the mirelurk king before he'd kill me over and over. I could never find a safe spot to snipe him.
Finally, I sneaked around him until I found the wendigo. It killed me too, but I came back, went right to it, attracting the attention of the mirelurk king, who chased after me into the presence of the wendigo. I was killed again, but before I tabbed out, I saw the mirelurk king chasing after the wendigo, and when I sneaked back to that place again, the wendigo had been killed by the mirelurk king. The wendigo has the key frag you need. So I just picked up the fragment from the dead wendigo, then fast traveled out. Honestly, I think that's how they intended for it to be won, by letting the two baddies fight it out.
