Suggestion for all new players.
If your new and annoyed like I was, go download the chat mod from nexusmods called Text Chat (Now with Clans). Here's the link but I don't know if it'll stay up. : https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/151 was the one I used and it honestly opens up the game so much. I've only played for over the last 5 days, and if I hadn't had the mod suggested to me, I would have given up. I hope this helps some new people getting into the game like I am, cos honestly, once you start meeting the community the other half of the game starts.

I don't know enough about the mod to say it's 100% safe to use but it uses an encryption method that's standard and he claims on the mod's page
"This mod is only functional because of the use of a third party server. The only information that is sent to the server is, nearby players, your name (the one visible to everyone), and your message. None of this information is stored. Player clients do not interact with one another, all communication happens with the server, the server then relays the message to the appropriate players."

I'd feel as safe using it as I would playing any online indie game listed on steam; it feels trust worthy.

This other guy is schizo and can't even form a full thought on why the mod is unsafe, i'd disregard him.

So you have nothing to back up your claims other than very broad stroked things said by Bethesda and even tho you've got people on this forum saying it's fine and even providing context with their responses about said "Grey Area", we should listen to you tho cos "trust me bro". Yeah, I'll take the guys that have been playing since opening day and even the betas advice over yours if you don't mind. Something tells me they might be a bit more informed.

It's almost like you think I'm about to mod in a 1-shot killing, server wide AoE having Fatman with a 100% bonus to legendary loot drops and exp, and it also kicks your cat or something. It's a mod to help people communicate outside of the (what seems to be) useless voice chat system. I do not get why all the hate over trying to unite a community somewhat. :(

"I'm going to trust random people, instead of the EULA for Fallout 76 that I agreed to when I first launched the game, and continue to agree to every time I log in."

The surface of this brain was not marked by the characteristic wrinkles one might usually expect to find.

Mmm, yes, I'm going to trust people who actually have time, information, practice and experience on the subject over some random that comes in without context other than "trust me bro". Sorry if you can't understand why that might be, and that's fine. But please, what am I ment to follow if this supposed "trust me bro" info is real over this: https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/44429 and others that that contradict him, many of which it seems can be found on this very forum?

So, here's an idea. How about rather than being a keyboard warrior and typing smart arse stuff, you post some concrete evidence, 100% concrete proof that ALL mods will get you banned. Cos that'd sort out quite a few discussions I've seen on the front page of this forum today.

Still can't believe this all started off trying to get people talking and playing together rather than staring at each other with no way to communicate other than canned emotes. -.- Glad this forum isn't anything like what I've experienced in-game.

For anyone worried, there are undetected cheats using the same methods as the mod mentioned in OP. tldr you won't get banned.

Dude, I asked you for any info on the subject so that if there was incorrect info or anything I'd gladly take the post down. You've provided nothing other than a forum post. Please, if there's info we don't know post it so we can all know. I just don't get how so many other people have used this and other mods just fine for ages and yet you seem so confidant that you'll get banned for using them.

"Please, let me know otherwise tho, don't want to get people in trouble/banned just cos I've been fed bad info." was what I said, I mean, it could have been missed in amongst all this, happens to the best of us. :) Either way, feel free to fill us in tho Absynth. Thanks mate. :)

Try reading the EULA.

using some stuff from nexus mods for 6 years no ban. Get f**ked little nerds. "BuT ThE EuLA" Nobody. Cares. Nerd. Go back to being a hall monitor or reddit mod or whatever else kind of nerd you are

virgin nerd mentality. You honestly think bethesda would care if you are doing anything that isnt trying to modify server side stats like the currencies? No critical thinking skills whatsoever, continue to go nowhere, too scared to do anything because "MaH EULA"

Big no for me, dawg.
*Reported this one. I breach terms when I post songs with vulgarity; I'm sure they're taking this post as it was intended - to help users.

That said the risks present aren't worth. Not to mention your chat client offends my 76er culture.
