Pristine sugar bombs do not work
Because the food found in sealed, clean areas (like vaults) shouldn't be dirty and irradiated, while the food found out in the environment exposed to radiation and dirt shouldn't be clean and pristine. So two different versions of the same food makes since. They just didn't put an appropriate keyword on the clean version to make it usable. Its just a poor decision, like the decision to require boiled water to cook most foods and so you can't use purified water.
