What bugs were never fixed?
I seem to remember things randomly dying in camp mclintok (and other places) corpses falling through the ground from when I played the game around the original release. Today there were ghouls in t-poses and they remained as such after death as well.

Are there any other bugs that bethesda never bothered to ever fix? (I mean they've had plenty of time to do so)

I'm suprised (or not) that they also never implemented text chat (so still have to rely on a third party mod/tool).

I only played to around level 10 back around the release and only started it up again after the steam release (thanks to the free copy) but kind of enjoying it so far.

There are plenty of bugs that they never fixed! And likely... never will. Here's just a few...

Models glitching around Typical Bethesda game. Saw this occur constantly with Rose while trying to talk to her. She warped around so much that there were at times two or three of her visible at once.

Scorchbeast corpses loading and falling from the sky. If you kill a scorchbeast... don't be shocked if that things corpse loads in randomly and falls from the sky as you continue to play. They like to follow me around when I fast travel or whenever a zone change occurs while walking around.

Guns getting bugged out magazine sizes This happens to my (MG42) Light Machinegun CONSTANTLY! Luckily its usually beneficial to me as instead of it only holding its normal 75 rounds I often end up with upwards of 300 rounds or even some number well above 1000. Other times though it ends up stuck with 0 rounds. Sadly this bug is frequently paired up with this next one...

Can't reload your weapon It will either ignore your attempt to reload or show the animation but never actually change the amount of rounds in the weapon. I typically only see this occur on the Gatling Laser or Gatling Plasma, or as mentioned above guns that had their magazine capacity glitch. I assume the gatling weapon issue is linked to them using the Fusion / Plasma cores as their ammo and them being odd in general.

Random Damage Sometimes you just get hurt. Often its like you fell and your guy gives a loud "ugh" noise, but other times its like you got shot or hit with no indicator or enemies around. Sometimes you take actual damage and other times it just gives the effects of it but no HP decrease.

Inventory item selected moves randomly Whenever you perform an action that removes an item from your inventory (dropping, selling, stashing, scrapping, etc) the game *SHOULD* select the next item if you're at the very top of the list or if at any other position skip up the list to the next position. But... sometimes it just jumps randomly and selects whatever the hell it feels like selecting. Early game this is tends to be a big annoyance since you can easily, and permanently, scrap armor or weapons you are using or want to keep. Late game when you're using legendary gear its less of an issue since that at least can't be scrapped. The faster you perform actions in inventory the more absurd this jumping gets.

Inventory subsections are an illusion not a limit and the game can do whatever it wants TO whatever it wants. When you select a specific list of stuff in your inventory, such as "Junk" for instance, you would naturally assume that you're ONLY performing actions on this items. This isn't the case though. Typically if you're going slow when doing stuff it won't be much of an issue, but when you are rapidly doing repeated stuff, the game can not only incorrectly select an item by jumping around that list randomly... but it can actually select things from an entirely different section of the inventory and then perform whatever action it feels like doing that item.

Whenever I do a bunch of rapid actions in inventory I always double check the ground to see if I dropped a bag with stuff. Can't even begin to count the number of times my legendary grenade launcher got dropped on the ground while I was rapid fire scrapping guns or armor. Its especially a pain when you're selling stuff because finding what you may have lost is harder.

I also regularly have this occur when I'm rapidly adding or removing things from my stash box. Often I find that it jumped around and randomly put in or removed different categories of things. Great fun!

Notifications about the same item you got ages ago. Remember that crappy legendary item or random note or whatever else you picked up was? So does the game... and it will remind you of it CONSTANTLY! I got a crappy one-star legendary pipe pistol from a quest. Even long after I had exchanged it for scrip I would have it pop up to show it to me as if I had just gotten it. Typically this could occur if I change zones, fast travel, get another legendary, complete a quest and get a reward, or just whenever the game damn well feels like it. This is especially annoying when inventory glitches cause you to accidentally lose a favorite item... and then the game rubs it in your face randomly for the entire play session... or several play sessions by displaying that item again as if you had just found a new one.

Enemies that can't be looted Sometimes enemies just can't be looted. Even if they have gear showing. Doesn't happen often, but when it does you can bet your ass it'll be the one thing you actually wanted to loot. Like the scorchbeast queen or another legendary critter.

Enemies that can't die Often they'll actually be dead, but just never actually officially die. So they can't be looted and just stand there like they are still alive. Sometimes they'll still have health bars, make sounds, show damage numbers, and for all intents and purposes seem alive. Very rarely, but very annoyingly, they can sometimes still be actively mobile, hostile, and able to damage you despite you being unable to do anything to them.

Power armor getting stuck Its totally possible to get your power armor stuck in all kinds of places. Sometimes that place just happens to be a completely flat piece of ground with no obstructions. Typically when you get stuck in your power armor you can jump wildly and flail about to free yourself or are able to exit your armor and relocate. Its annoying though when it occurs and you can't escape or exit your armor. If you can fast travel you're fine, but when you can't you just gotta relog. Good times.

Event quests not activating Sometimes they just don't start. You show up, try to do what it tells you activate and it either never triggers or you can't actually interact with the object you need to.

Those would be the ones I can think of just off the top of my head. There are heaps more, but I've probably tuned most of them out because its Bethesda and bugs are just... what they do.

Its a real shame they didn't include a single player offline version of this game so we actually use a console and mods to fix or workaround the majority of them like we always do with their games. Sadly, I don't think that will happen. Mods would allow players to address the glaring quality of life issues that plague the game... and which are the companies main incentives to make you spend money.

Don't know if Boycot mentioned this one but Enemy health rubber banding making simple enemies bullet sponges.

also the pump shotgun animation loop for walking is still broken from beta lmao

don't forget about Gauss weapon inability to locked on the target properly when charged before using VATS.

Yeah, Bethesda really likes giving us broken as hell games.. but this one the community can't fix.

I had bits of ticks rolling down a sloped road today, corpses falling through the ground, randomly taking rad damage in my house (had to restart the game to make it stop), the random damage and cars randomly exploding.
Tilarta Apr 17, 2020 @ 12:39am
Rose still has her radio communication glitch.
When the mission step is to have her contact you and speak to update the mission, it will not count.
You have to relog and take the step again to get the mission to progress.
MeGa Apr 17, 2020 @ 12:44am
Fast firing guns deal damage and enemies regen a bit of each shot.

Scorchbeast queen still can give no exp or loot no matter how much you shoot her.

Still some unremovable and unscrappable camp items.

Aiming down sights can get stuck between fps and tps.

And a few more, all experienced by myself.

Still the game is very fun and worth it, but im not uber happy about dealing with those old bugs again, xD

New: food ignoring the spoil time sorting doing alphabetical order instead

Reading these two reminded me of a few more!

Stimpak Lag Its extremely common to be unable to use a stimpak. You hit the "H" key, but nothing happens at all. This tends to happen in large battles, but it can also happen in small fights such as with a Mirelurk Queen. There have been plenty of times where I had to mash the "H" key about 30+ times in a row as I'm watching my health drain before it finally gave me a single use of one.

A, kind of functional, workaround is to add a stimpak to a hotkey on your favorites wheel. When the "H" key decides you're better off dead sometimes the hotkey will still work just fine.

Assaultron Head Charging Pretty often the assault head just doesn't want to charge at all. You *should* only have to hit "R" 5 times to get it cranked up the maximum, but it regularly lags out and takes 10-30 attemps ... if it even bothers to crank at all.

VATS not actually aiming a the target Supposedly VATS is an automatic hit based off the % chance to hit that its showing, but this isn't always the case. Even with a 90%+ chance to hit you can still miss because the projectile isn't actually aimed at the target. This often happens with enemies that aren't actually on the ground, such as Eyebots or any enemy that gets glitched above the ground, or just from the game firing at something completely off the mark.

Humorously the Assualtron head seems to be a big fan of this issue. So you get a double whammy of cranking it until you break your keyboard only to have it firing horribly low into the ground with a VATS shot for not reason at all.

Weapons reloading themselves Sometimes your weapon just feels empty inside and decides to take matters into its own hands. Even without hitting "R" they can just decide to reload. Typically this occurs for me on weapons with large magazines, in the 200-500 range. My gatling gun has 500 rounds and tends to just reload itself whenever its around 300-430 left in it. Might be some glitch where the gun thinks its empty.

VATS making automatic weapons stop firing If you use VATS with an automatic weapon at any point its garbage because they tend to stop firing and need to be re-aimed and fired all over again. With something like a minigun its really bad since you need to slowly spin it back up again.

Automatic weapons stop firing, without VATS! Sometimes even without VATS an automatic weapon will just decide to stop shooting. Seems to occur most often when I'm looking down the sights. Anything with a spin up time (minigun, gatling plasma/laser) its especially annoying with.

World items not being lootable You can run into items that you've looted several times previously but they just can't be picked up now. They won't even have an interact indicator showing on them when hovered over. They are still physically there though as they can block your movements and be moved around by explosions and such.

Ore veins / Deposits not being lootable You can see them. You can hover over them and get the name with the "E" to take showing... but you clearly aren't pressing "E" correctly because its impossible to take the item. This happens with about 50% or more of the ore veins in the Mother Lode event quest. Also used to happen with the mining machine event, but I haven't seen that one yet in Wastelanders.

Good times!

I want to know why certain enemies with 2 Handed weapons are only using one hand to use them, animation wise.

IE Scorched

Dang how could I forget!

Invisible items, with weight, in inventory. Its still possible to find yourself weighted down by stuff that doesn't exist. This used to happen all the time in Fallout 4 due to quest items and hidden items that would fail to be properly removed or would incorrectly be assigned a weight. It still happens in Fallout 76, but we don't have a console or mods or anything to be able to fix and edit a solution to it. If you're lucky it can often times be fixed by reloading the game.

I'm not sure how much invisible item weight I've got on me since the inventory restrictions don't allow me enough free space to play with to fully unload my character.

Undroppable items having weight There are several items that you can't drop, for *REASONS*, but that still have weigh. You can't sell these items, put them in stashes, or drop them. Amusingly... you can still pick up more of them though. Typically they are quest items like notes or holotapes so they tend to only weigh in the 0.01 to 1.00 range, but its still annoying. If the quest is repeatable you can sometimes get rid of them that way or other times you can get rid of them after a server maintenance occurs.

Most of the bugs listed here never happened to me. I am not saying "Well it didnt happen to me so it doesnt exist" but people tend to blow these out of proportion.

Some more common than others I guess, possibly some that happen but you don't really notice.

I mean it is not suprising, Fallout 3/4 as well as all the elder scrolls games are filled with bugs that were never really fixed (or were fixed by the community). Enjoyable still, yes.. but still some of the most buggy games around. I'm thinking some bugs simply were never fixed in their engine and thus carried over to FO76. The online component might make some of them even worse.

Don't worry about the old bugs though as Wastelanders is expanding the game with new ones.

My favorite so far was in one of the story line quests. I'll keep it spoiler free

A woman wanted me to follow her upstairs to meet someone. I hung around downstairs chatting with other people. I heard her introduce me to the person and tell me to talk to them. When I went upstairs she was standing beside a dead, and lootable body. Immediately she wanted to know why *I* killed them and she was furious with me.

I was pretty ticked off that the game decided to make me a murderer without me actually do it. I tried alt-f4-ing out and hoping that when I came back in the game wouldn't have saved that state yet, but I was out of luck. That branch of the storyline is now permanently set in stone.

I had a similar thing happen to me at another storyline area that was outdoors. I went in peacefully, but the player behind me didn't. So even though no one was hostile to me and I could still talk to them whenever I went into the interior area they reacted as if i was a psycho that came in guns blazing. No idea how that portion of the story could have played out peacefully. I was intended to try to join them, but that got permanently locked out for me too.

Annoying issues like these are typical in any Bethesda game, but this time you can't reload a previous save, use the console, or rely on mods to solve it.

Wastelanders does, overall, provide a much better game experience and one much closer to the previous single player Fallout games. Unfortunately, its not single player. You're dealing with all the typical single player bugs but with the added annoyance of it being multiplayer.
