It's called efficiency of communication. One does not have to read if it can be shown.
I just figured it out through usage and time.
It's called "poor reading skills".
38 seconds into the first video, he's saying he equipped damage perks.
The question is "Does this trait (Anti Armor) give an effective boost to damage on most guns?"
The answer is "Yes".
The way damage vs resistance works is that the damage in is reduced by DR via a complicated equation (google Fallout 4 resistance).
As we do less damage vs same DR we loose more % than the pure numbers would suggest.
So AA helps that lower damage output not loose so much, plus do more vs stock weapons.
But it is dependent on opponents DR. Basic points are 100 dmg vs 100 DR = 50hp damage to target (if dmg = DR damage taken is half), and if you do 10x DR it effectively is ignored eg. 500dmg vs 50 DR would do close to 500dmg to target. So splitting target DR gets closer to that 10x goal.
Edit: Now on PC I can give better examples:
damage coeff = min[0.99, (damage x 0.15 / resistance)^0.365] That is max damage negation is 0.01 that occurs at around 6.6x damage vs DR, anything over is reduced to 0.01.
Hope that helps.
The worst one being hands down with 0 competetion and in it's league is Noctornal
Irs roughly 40 minutes day and 20 minutes night.
Something I watched or read (thought I had bookmarked it but now can't find it) said that furious was better than AA as once the damage has increased after say 4 or 5 hits you would be actually dealing more damage to target as your higher damage was reducing the targets resistances by more than the constant reduction provided by AA.
I'm not up on all the ins and outs of the game and how damage is calculated so I'm not sure if this is true.
My own personal testing did confirm this though as on enemies where more than 5 shots were needed (scorchbeasts, mirelurk queens and behemoths) furious for me was showing to be dealing more damage than AA on those same targets.
Heavy Weapons benefit less from Anti Armor due to how the "Stabilized" perk stacks with it.
Thanks I did not know that. Looked it up just now. I don't use power armour full time and I don't have stabilised perk yet due to not using power armour all that much. I have like 38 levels stacked up, so I will get it eventually for the times when I need to use power armour. Interested to see how it goes with my furious heavy guns. Furious and 3 star Stabilised sounds very nice.
According to the Stabilised Wiki page: "If an Anti-Armor weapon is equipped, the perk's armor reduction bonus is halved."
So my comparison testing would have been accurate as I was not in power amour. Interested to hear what other players think about AA versus furious. I too would like to know if AA is a good choice for a non bloodied and non junkie build, or if furious is the better choice.
so AA 50% and stablised 45% then wack an anti armor barrel or pentration mag will hit the cap easy
Anti-Armor is generally better than Furious. Furious resets the damage buff if a second target is hit and it always takes a bunch of shots to ramp up the damage.
Furious, Junkies, and Anti Armor are generally within the same ballpark now. What is best in any given situation depends on weapon, damage perks, and armor of the target.
