Two shot VS Anti armor
I wanna get a gatling gun but i can't decide which one would deal more damage.
Before i waste all my scrip on the wrong option

Option 1:
Two shot, Explosive (Any 3rd star, Preferably 25% extra damage while aiming)

Option 2:
Anti armor, explosive (Any 3rd star, Preferably 25% extra damage while aiming)

Which one of these would deal more damage when combined with all best mods for it?

I can't replicate the math but I've seen it, and those are optimized for different enemies. The TSE is great for trash mobs, while the AAE is great for super-armored foes - save it for boss fights and Eviction Notice. So, ultimately, it depends on who you're going to fight.

Angry Turtle has a video where he explains the Math,
he says that for ballistic weapons 2-shot is crap,
but energy wepons benefit from 2-shot.

From my view 2-shot expl. ballistics still rock in VATS, but fail outside of VATS

This might be changed, also Armor of the target and the perk "Stabilzed" (only heavy Guns in PA) have influence.

Edit: I overlooked that you want specificly a "Gatling Gun": don't go for 2-shot, fun but almost impossible to hit things in a distance.

I think i agree to this. the spread of two shot makes it less worth it over a distance, lets say for when fighting SBQ

Anti armor gatling with ultracite ammo all the way. No Douth!!

I prefer Anti-Armor myself for the armor penetration, comes real in handy for boss fights. My HG character has a AAFFR minigun and it shreds, my Rifleman has a AAE LAR and a AA+50crit gauss rifle, both good. I find Anti-Armor is just a good effect overall whether it be for mindless fun or actual content.

It's the classical discussion about hollow point or armor piercing (swapping to this game), depends the enemy you want to blew off his head.
As the others say, anti armor is awesome if your enemy have huge armor, like the bosses, but with enemies without armor, you will make less dmg compared to other suffixes...

these poor guys are easy to kill anyway, the charme of Anti-Armor is that it gets better the harder the enemie are.

TSE is good for crowd control. Other than that, it was nerfed into the ground during the first round of weapon nerfs.

AAE should be superior in every scenario except for crowd control where you have a bunch of lightly armored enemies.

I have to come back to this:
I'm a huge fan of the Gatling Gun but wouldn't waste any sdrip on it.

That's like getting the best version of a 1969 VW-Van: cool, but there are better options.

Tesla for mobbing/ Events, Plasma or Laser-Gatling for the bosses Fixer for sneak missions, Plasma -Gun with flamer barrel for short range-high damage or maybe a chainsaw.

Though Ammo consumption and repairs could be an issue (that is where the gatling Gun shines) you get better DPS, more XP and loot.

However, on the long run your scrips might be better invested in Secret-Service Armor or Power Armor of your choice.

OP, the answer(s) to your question is;

A TSE Gatling Gun does more Raw damage than an Anti Armor does.

ALL Two Shot guns suffer from lower accuracy numbers than other prefixes of the same gun type.

Anti Armor is usually most often used for and benefits PvP players. With NPC's a TSE will do faster and more damage than an Anti Armor will outside of Vats.

There's only(I think) 4 mods for the Gatling Gun.

***Until it someday gets patched out, Spamming your right mouse(Aim) button increases the firing rate of the Gatling Gun by a huge amount.***

With all that said, I suggest you at least try a TSE for combat that is less that 100 feet away from you. "Trash" mobs will go down faster with a TSE.

Lastly, I suggest trying out Railway Rifles. Overall they fair better than Gatling Guns do.

Personally, I'm hooked on TSE .50 cals.

I see after the fast fire glitch is gone now that the gatling gun is useless anyways compared to other builds

Two shot is crap. Second shot of two shot is base damage, not x2.
Kvaki Jan 24, 2023 @ 10:56am
two shot explosives are the best!
