Bethesda changed it, so yea its like that now. Until you got a character build going and a decent gun, farming stuff is what you´re gonna do. Its like a threshold, once over it the game becomes simple and you are flooded with ammo, stims and gear.
What to do. Figure out a farm route where you get abit of everything you need. Core, ammo, stims etc. Then as you level and get legendary scrips switch to the 3 star legendary weapons. Once you got something setup, so you can do most content,...run with that. Then its just a matter of perfecting the build and gear.
Exploring lets you know the world map, which is important if you´re in a tight spot. Quest chains open up content. Team up to gain exp faster. Also a good way to see what works and what gear other people focus on.
Thats about it.
As for running out of stims, you can temporarily get the Pharma Farma perk which should make you swim in chems after an exploration trip. And don't worry, the level you're in is considered the toughest portion. Once your build is roughly set in after level 50, the game gets a lot easier.
Thanks for the offer, I might come back to it if I feel like there is an absolute wall that I can't overcome in terms of stims and ammo.
So, I just invested points somewhat randomly so far. Is there a way to redo it or am I basically bricked for the rest of my character's life? As for build, I guess I am more interested in running around in heavy power armor with a gatling gun of sorts. While I love sneak builds in games like Skyrim, in Fallout I usually go for the guns blazing approach.
A quick google for heavy weapons builds also gave a lot of different approaches, so main question in that regard is if you perhaps have one you can recommend?

Kind of, once you hit level 50 you can choose to either pick a new perk card or move 1 SPECIAL point around, so for example taking 1 point from Strength and putting it into Endurance.

You definitely want maximum strength, then. Pick all 3 heavy gunner perks (heavy gunner, expert heavy gunner and master heavy gunner) and then you could pick a power armor perk. Then, you definitely want Intelligence for the rank 3 of the Stabilized perk, which buffs heavy weapons when you are in power armor. For the time being, you can go with melee since you'll be going all in on strength. You'll save ammo. You can always swap in the heavy gunner perk cards when you're ready! Like I said, definitely check out the nukes and dragons website https://nukesdragons.com/fallout76/perks to plan out your build. It will save a lot of point moving in the future :)
A lot of different approaches? Never heard of them. You definitely have choice for heavy weapons, though. Gatling gun is ammo efficient but fires slow. 50cal seems to be an all rounder. LMG can be good but eats *a lot* of .308 ammo so isn't the best choice. I recommend to get the "Final Word" 50cal from Beckett's questline (you should automatically get that quest after a certain level). Once you finish his questline, you get a guaranteed legendary 50cal with very nice legendary effects, like anti armor and faster fire rate.
IF you put your mind into to it you should be able to get a decent level of loot. Ends in March.

Here, did some adjustments. I added in mutations, as they're simply very powerful and easy to get later on when you get enough caps. Just buy mutation serums from player camps once you get enough caps, they seem to hover around the 600-700 caps range.( some good mutations are marsupial, speed demon for example) Note that this build requires joining public teams to get max potential. Charisma cards are swappable(inspirational until you get enough levels, then strange in numbers + squad maneuvers) Replaced Bullet Shield with Lock and Load because damage resistance effectiveness falls off later on in the game, % dmg reduction perks are better afaik. Added in some more luck for mutation perks + ricochet. Ricochet procs way way more than you think, trust me. Completely negating damage on a regular basis is pretty good. have fun :)
I looked at it and nothing is telling me anything. I guess most if some currency and some cosmetics? I mean, it's free, so nothing to scuff at. I always do whatever I can at my current level. Things like daily operation I think I could theoretically queue for, but I don't want to be the guy that leeches and makes others work.
Ok.
I usually average at 4-5 daily tasks by just playing, so I think that should get me forward in the long run. Weekly stuff also gets done steadily. As for the groups that got mentioned earlier, should I just join whatever group is open which is set to free-for-all? From other games I know that you usually need to be around the group's other people to get benefits, but if that isn't the case here, I should just join whatever.
i know how to get ammo and such if so low on steam pack and sarch keep head back to air field and keep kill the lower lv one and get gun to sell and go other play base get plan they sell as will
