Is the storyline of the Fallout 76 base game integrated in the Wastelanders storyline? In other words: should I first play the base game and after that play the DLC Wastelanders? Or can I start with Wastelanders and have the base game experience along the way?
Yep, it will all download as one game. There are small updates every Tuesday and one major update every season. The next one is in December like Rubbie stated. Again it is all part of the game and will not cost anything extra. Good luck in the game.
Played wastelanders 3 on xbox for windows beta, picked it up to play that game
Wasn't horrible, bugged as all, and quite short. Game like many has pacing issues with things being in short supply for the first bit then plentiful at the end.
Story is mediocre (but I say that about a lot of games)
Played this for the last week or so before my xbox for windows beta pass ended.
Picked this up in the steam sale after making sure from the free weekend play that the character would transfer over.
FO76 >> Wastelanders 3 as a game but they are both drastically different approaches to telling a post apoc setting game with first person shooter with some RPG and building elements vs a strategy game with mild RPG elements.
FO76 also has multiplayer and content being added for free, it does have a laundry list of QoL issues that they seemingly introduced to sell their "premium" fallout 1st subscription
I had more bugs and crashes in wastelanders 3 but it was still minor
It was ok but I liked 2 better. The play time for 3 was a joke, you could do the whole thing in a day and see all of the content. And now they talk about dlc's, what a joke. Was really disappointed for a game that we waited 3 extra years for. At least I didn't have any of the bug issues.
Welcome aboard! :) 95% of the players i've encountered are really friendly and often give you free stuff. In my 500 hours or more, can't fully remember (played on Bethesda launcher since day 1 before Steam release) i have encountered only a handful of players who either try to grief you or purposely shoot you in order to trigger PVP (you and they take full damage only if both players shoot each other). Don't want to scare you or anything, the game is really good :)
I strongly suggest you read or watch some tutorials on the important basics and advanced stuff you should know from day 1. Unless you don't mind just messing around wasting time.
Good luck and have fun.
There really are no griefers or pvp in this game. If someone attacks you to initiate pvp just ignore them and keep the pacifist mode on at all times. If they persist then report them. But since I've been playing I have only had 4 people try to pvp and I ignored them. You only "lose" your camp on a server if someone else is using that area when you log on. This really only happens if the camp is in one of the prime areas(i.e. next to train stations). The game informs you that your area is occupied on the server you join and gives you the option to move to another server which is what I do. It's really no big deal. The only loot you can lose in the game is scrap/junk and the world is full of it so it's no big loss. All your currency, armor, weapons etc. you will keep. Workshops you will learn are pretty much worthless and the only areas in the game with open pvp. They are not worth having anyways. The multiplayer aspect will not hinder you in any way and with the public teams can be fun working with other people or you can play alone. The most you will see of other players is them waving hello or giving you free stuff. I find the game fun and relaxing except for certain areas that can be deadly.
