Take camera picture of fossils

I dont get this damn possum challenge thing. I took so many pictures of so many fossils yet none of them count.

Do I need to find a prosnap camera or something and use that to take the picture? Or can I just do it with the photomode feature?

I thought for all those the player needs the crafted camera and use it like a gun.

You need to find prosnap camera. But not any camera. Lighthouse is 1 of few places where body of tourist can spawn. On his body u can find note and broken prosnap camera. This starts quest and gives you camera.

i passed them and i used the camera weapon item. that other camera is for selfies and things like that.

There is a mission called "Bucket List".
It is a side mission you get by finding a special broken camera on the body of a "tourist".
You find this body at a random tourist hotspot somewhere in the game world. There are many spawn places, including The Inland Lighthouse and Wavy Willards. The mission itself is fairly late game (you spend much of it on the far right hand side of the map) but you can still make and use the Prosnap Delux Camera as soon as you get it, as long as you can access a Tinkers Bench to repair it.
You will then have the option to repair the camera.
This gives you a Prosnap Delux Camera that is handled like a gun. You even need to craft ammo for it (film, it's under "ammo" on your tinkers bench).
It lets you take pictures without entering photo mode.
Any time a challenge/badge/etc. says to take a picture and it doesn't specifically say to do so in Photo Mode, assume that they mean the Prosnap Delux. This includes all the Possum and Tadpole Badges.
