How do I start the Event: Campfire Tales?

The Event: Campfire Tales isn't starting when I go to Camp Adams. The robot who gives the quest is there but she isn't starting the event. I thought events were supposed to start when you approach the area?

IT's a global event, you have to wait for it to be active.

It's very rare, like 1% to activate at night.

Do I have to go near the location to activate it or will it automatically get activated no matter where I am on the map?

You should notice a message pop on your screen anywhere on the map telling you that Campfire Tales has started.

This quest has still not popped up after 6 days of posting this. Are you sure you're not supposed to visit the location to get it started? Or are there other main quests you need to do first in order for this one to pop up?

Public events repeat multiple times a day. daily events are specific to you and pop up as you enter the area.

It used to be that all players had to do was go to the area at night to start the event.
But overuse of that approach caused it to be shifted to the Public Event roster, so players could not activate the event whenever they wanted.

Go there "wen the sun goes down" com from the tower near the camp and go inside dont travel direct to the camp have fun.

To update the thread, I've played the Campfire Tales mission over 10 times and not once has the recipe for the s'mores dropped. Luckily I was able to get it from another player but there are a few other badges where you're relying on things to drop or spawn but they don't. For example, for the Possum Chemist badge you're relying on plans for the cryo, pulse and plasma grenades to drop as rewards from events in the Cranberry Bog but they simply don't. It's frustrating for a completionist.

Intriguing, I think I’ve gotten like 3 or more s’more recipes.

It's been just over a month since starting this post. After doing the campfire tales event I'd say about 50-75 times, the recipe for s'mores finally dropped. Unbelievable!

After first talking to the handy you have to sit down.

Go there during evening or night time. Its a timer when it can start like riding shotgun, so if someone else have done it before it wont start.
