Mayor for a Day CLUES bug. Cannot progress! HELP?! Need Holotapes!

Was doing "Mayor for a Day" and was collecting the 5 Clues from the saboteur's hideout. Went to use the terminal/computer in the room, but I was crouched down, and it caused my character to get stuck in the animation. I had already collected the 2 Holotapes in the room. Well, I had to close the game out. Now when I get back into the game, the quest resets to me being 0/5 on the Clues, I go to the hideout, and no holotapes, and no they are not in my inventory either.

TL;DR: Game believes I have the holotapes when I do not, and they are not spawning on the ground next to the dead guy for me.

(If someone has the holotapes on them from doing this quest, and no longer needs them to complete the quest, maybe you could friend me so I can get the holotapes from you and see if that works? Will be available in about 6 to 8 hours now.. had to go to sleep)

I do not know about the clues specifically, but the last time I did this mission, I noticed a significant bug, in that many many of the key items were generated.

Look for the ones marked with the diamond only, take that one only and ingore the rest

Yeah, that isn't the problem, but i've seen that. My problem is that the two holotapes that spawn in the room that are clues are not spawning for me because the game thinks for some reason I have them when I do not, thanks to the game bugging out when I went to use the terminal.

You need to listen to the holotape and read the notes as well as picking them up for them to count if I recall right

That's correct.
But I cannot GET the holotapes to do so. The game thinks I have them, when I do not. When I had to exit the game due to the stuck terminal animation it removed them from my inventory but did not cause them to spawn back onto the ground.

Just had an idea.. Someone might be able to join me and give me the holotapes if they've completed the questline and no longer need them?

Did this ever get resolved as I have a similar issue. A scorchbeast attacked while I was there which caused my PC to get weird and DC. Now I can't get the holotapes.

So, I found a way to continue the quest without getting the holotapes. You still need the Saboteur's work password note from the safe and Keycard from the body. After you get both of them, go to the Robco Research Center. Enter the building, find the room with a keycard reader on the second floor, use the card, use the terminal inside the room, then the quest should be updated and you can continue doing the quest.

Maybe, try server hopping (s), it solve many problems habitually ... .

For future strugglers - it recently took me three attempts for all five clues to be present at the same time. Just keep logging in/out and you'll get them eventually.

dont do the quest, the bots at Watoga will no longer attack you...it sux i wish i wouldve known before doin that quest,...unless theres a way to reverse it???

For me, Watoga is one of my favorite farming places. Need a bobblehead or a magazine or some nuka-cola or dog food, name it ... !!!

So, fun to not have to clear my way each time I go there. And for robot challenges it's easier.

Now, it's up to you to choose.

Note: with many playable characters, you can choose to not do it too for one of them.

Thank you so much. I spent two hours trying to get the holotapes to respawn and never did.

Leave wait a couple days and try again. I had the same issue and fixed it buy waiting 3 days.

For anyone who comes along later, a way to reset this is to use the Summersville house that's right in front of the quick travel point. When you pick up 255 items, your own personal loot table resets, and it's full of destroyed books. Pick up all of them, drop them, and then server hop, and the items will respawn. I just had to use it to fix this quest myself.
