No review area for FO76 on Steam?!
I'm playing FO76 on the PS. And I can sum up the game in two words.

Tedious.
Buggy.

Bethesda has completely lost sight of what the Fallout world is all about. I'm a First School(tm) gamer, and played Wasteland, Fallout, and Fallout 2 back when they were new. Since Fallout 3 Bethesda has tried to turn Fallout into a cash cow, instead of making a gritty, hard morally gray world it once was. They've added tedium, and bugs to what was once a great franchise, and are relying on die hard fans of the franchise to continue funding their bugs. . . I mean games.

OK, Bethesda is a corp, and wants your money. I get it. There are cases where I'm like, "Shut up and take my money!" about games. But, Fallout 4, and now Fallout 76 are both missing 1 key ingredient. While Fallout 4 is kind of a fun game. . . if you skip or mod the settlement building, its a very poor fallout game. Now, I've played, Wasteland, Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout Brotherhood of Steel (console double flusher), Wasteland 2, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76.

I'd say its a toss up between FO2 and FONV as to which is the best. Likewise, its a tossup between FO76 and FOBOS as to which is the worst. Now, one could argue I'm comparing apples to oranges to curbside dog droppings, because FO, FO2 and FOT are turn based tactical, and FO 3-76 are FPS while FOBOS is a platformer. But, they all try to be in the same world. So, just bear with it.

While Bethesda wants money, and I don't begrudge anyone making a buck, they've pretty much taken Pay to Win to unknown heights with Fallout 1st. They took several things the community is begging for, and made them a pay option. I've tried FO1st, and well, its not worth 13 bucks a month, or even 10. I'd say 5 bucks a month would be about right for it.

As for the bugs, do I really need to bring them up? From crashes, to people being in several locations at once, to meshing, and beyond. Exploits. Rip offs. Duping. The laundry list of bugs Bethesda has chosen to include in this game, and not address is amazaballs.

The tedium. It's real. When you boil away the BS FO76 is a shooter looter. But, they castrated your ability to hang on to loot. From the neutered amount of caps you can get per day to the awful script system. Then comes things like end game content. Hey, its challenging! But, in a poor way. Fallout was challenging. Trying to get that water chip in the allotted time was fun and hard. It took me 3 tries to do it. But, FO76 makes things "challenging" by forcing you to milk the system with absurd builds, that just aren't fun to me.

I've power gamed in MMO's, I've power gamed in single player games. But, for FO I want to enjoy things. But, instead I need to spend hundreds of hours gambling with in game resources to try and get certain items, that wind up getting hit with the nerf bat, in order to build a character, that I don't really want to play. I want to play a stealth sniper, and explore and just enjoy the environment. But, instead if I want to do end game content, I can't do it because I wind up getting sodomized without consent by hoards of over powered critters. Which, hey, fighting hoards can be fun, but when every single end game event is like this it got old after about the 3rd time. While I'm watching some one hit wonder clown mow down everything with a freaking stick.

Melee should not be king in Fallout. It wasn't sticks that ended the world, it isn't sticks that are used to wage war in modern times. You don't see countries settling their petty differences by having their soldiers play whack-a-molerat with each other. Its guns, and missiles. Those are what should be king in Fallout.

So, ladies (both of you), and gentlemen, lets ask Bethesda to do something against it's nature. Lets ask them to step away from their stock market ticker, and bank accounts, and:

MAKE FALLOUT FUN AGAIN!

Make it fun, the money will flow.

There's no review on steam yet because the game hasn't been released for steam, yet.

But it is fun. FO4 is a fun game. Which is why it sold like crazy around the world, on every platform.

You want Fallout to go back to its roots...which was exactly what was killing it.
Bethesda revived it and made it stronger than it ever was.
Sure, for the "old" fans of this franchise this sucks. Big time.
But that's the way it is.

A lot of people still have fun with those games, they are by no means bad games.
You don't get to determine what makes fallout fallout, bethesda does.

Even if Bethesda had any creative talent left on the payroll they still wouldn't know what to do with it. They're nothing more than accountants and calculators now.

Steam reviews are for people who own the game on Steam. Seeming how nobody owns the game on Steam yet kinda makes it hard to give reviews.

Reviews on steam are meant for game play & game time on Steam not on other platforms. That is why there is no option to post a review & hopefully without played time on Steam you idiots will not be able to add your two cents to reviews here on steam hating against a game most of you most likely do not even own.

Ekhm, Fallout 2 says hello.
They've added tedium, and bugs to what was once a great franchise, and are relying on die hard fans of the franchise to continue funding their bugs. . . I mean games.
They have added bugs... they have added bugs... they have added bugs:
https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_bugs
https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_2_bugs
Sad to point at it chap... but bethesda did not trade mark bugs just yet.

Well, if you did enjoy Fallout 3 or NV, good news. The (actual PTS knowledge) expansion actually directs it into this area. Its way more RPGish then Fallout 4 is with mods. Naturally, not for everyone. So don't hold your horses to try it, with negative approach you won't enjoy it. No matter how good it would be (just like I did not want to actually try Fallout 3 at release because "its not true Fallout", no it was not... it was something new in loved universe (even if retconned, Fallout 2 did same thing, so no problem here).

I'd say its a toss up between FO2 and FONV
I would go with Fallout 1's world building. But each to his own, maybe you just like goofy settings and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of cultural references. Kinda contradicting with your initial statement tho.
as to which is the best. Likewise, its a tossup between FO76 and FOBOS as to which is the worst.
FOBOS is universally the worst, I would not imagine someone would compare medicore game to a disaster which FOBOS was
Now, one could argue I'm comparing apples to oranges to curbside dog droppings, because FO, FO2 and FOT are turn based tactical
Not exactly, you should exclude FOT since it can be played in real time, pehaps its also its own thing as its not trully RPG
and FO 3-76 are FPS while FOBOS is a platformer. But, they all try to be in the same world. So, just bear with it.
No problem here, we all can agree FOBOS was the worst.

While Bethesda wants money, and I don't begrudge anyone making a buck, they've pretty much taken Pay to Win to unknown heights with Fallout 1st.
Ekhm, what?
They took several things the community is begging for, and made them a pay option.
Okey, I get it... but it is not really pay to win, hopefully you can make more sense further the road
I've tried FO1st, and well, its not worth 13 bucks a month, or even 10. I'd say 5 bucks a month would be about right for it.
Isn't it actually good thing? Unless you want them to make the subscription mandatory, for example you can't craft anything unless you pay. You evil being you.
As for the bugs, do I really need to bring them up?
There is no reason, but ... bugs are with the series since begining... there is no bug free game, no matter how I love first and 2nd Fallout, they had their own bugs which did make my playthroughs terrible at times.
From crashes
Well, normal thing when you play on a server with bunch of people trying to duplicate things, after all it causes instability and might crash you, who would have thought, right?
to people being in several locations at once, to meshing, and beyond.
As much as I have actually explored both, Live version and PTS... I have yet to see that bug, could be enjoyable sight.
Exploits.
Like every game, just like every Fallout, just like every business, just like every forum, just like every human being... everything can be exploited, so why would you be surprised?
Rip offs.
Ehm, rip offs, rip offs. If you can't handle decision making and are naive, then it is not really game's issue, it is yours issue.
Duping.
Ah the devorer of the worlds, destructor of computers, the last thing you see before blue screen of death
The laundry list of bugs Bethesda has chosen to include in this game, and not address is amazaballs.
Damn, Interplay, you naughty you, why did you decide to include bugs in first games!

The tedium. It's real. When you boil away the BS FO76 is a shooter looter.
As we have seen looking at both Fallout 4 and Borderlands, people like these kind of games, so what is the issue? Its just not for you
But, they castrated your ability to hang on to loot. From the neutered amount of caps you can get per day
Wait, really? Maybe I just didn't try to grind hard enough since I did not encounter any cap earning wall
to the awful script system.
I don't know, I would say it actually is a good side of things. Gives hope for the modding as well (especially looking at the survey they gave to testers, asking wheter we want modding to be priority
Then comes things like end game content.
Well, end game is variable, so here I can agree. Some people enjoy having the best PvP stats in history of mankind, some do not even want to see PvP in game they play, so both end up anticipating other endgame. I am all for variety here, still have to see how endgame in wastelanders look like, but hey. I barely finished my work
Hey, its challenging! But, in a poor way.
Payday taught me one thing, if you do not find something challenging, you have to make it harder for yourself, don't use the "best" meta in the game and expect it to be hard, your actions are opposing the idea of challenge.
Fallout was challenging.
Oh yes, I can't forget the moment they allowed us to use power armor and causing us to steam roll everything around. Actually, I've got to admit I love the fact they have bring the power armor to the old way.
Trying to get that water chip in the allotted time was fun
Yes, it was
and hard.
no, it was not.
It took me 3 tries to do it.
You didn't try hard enough
But, FO76 makes things "challenging" by forcing you to milk the system with absurd builds,
I am not sure wheter you meant that game does force you to make overpowered builds... or that it forces you to make terrible builds, in both cases... it was a thing of all Fallout games, including the great low intelligence build as well as high agility... ekhm, meta
that just aren't fun to me.
If I lacked self-control, I would have issue to stay with single game for more then 2 hours.

I've power gamed in MMO's, I've power gamed in single player games. But, for FO I want to enjoy things.
So do it, stop treating it as something it is not?
But, instead I need to spend hundreds of hours gambling with in game resources to try and get certain items,
Ekhm, what are you even on about? If you mean resources... everything has exact set resource... what more you can actually mark what resource you search for and game will mark anything with that resource, if you mean that you want two shot explosive legendary gun... I thought you want challenge
that wind up getting hit with the nerf bat,
Sometimes its needed, unless we want everything to be too easy, wasn't it your complaint?
in order to build a character, that I don't really want to play.
So don't?
I want to play a stealth sniper, and explore and just enjoy the environment.
Managed to do that here with no problem.
But, instead if I want to do end game content, I can't do it because I wind up getting sodomized without consent by hoards of over powered critters.
same build, no such issue... anyway didn't you say you want to have challenge anyway?
Which, hey, fighting hoards can be fun, but when every single end game event is like this it got old after about the 3rd time.
So don't do horde events? You can always even challenge yourself by stripping challenges in plain exploration, like in all Bethesda/Obsydian Fallouts
While I'm watching some one hit wonder clown mow down everything with a freaking stick.
I get it, you want to mow everything down with single shot of your sniper rifle, I know I can do that not even having legendary rifle. Maybe you just made bad decisions? Bad expectations? Bad tactics? Something went wrong.

Melee should not be king in Fallout.
Who are we to say what should be king or not, after all, we do not want them to nerf things
It wasn't sticks that ended the world, it isn't sticks that are used to wage war in modern times.
You do realize that technically speaking CQC is being taught with a reason. Weapon on short range can be rendered useless by skilled melee fighter, just food for thought.
You don't see countries settling their petty differences by having their soldiers play whack-a-molerat with each other. Its guns, and missiles. Those are what should be king in Fallout.
I actually thought that accurate mininuke can do the marvels, what about 4 shot-autoaim-rocketlauncher with sneak critic?

So, ladies (both of you), and gentlemen, lets ask Bethesda to do something against it's nature. Lets ask them to step away from their stock market ticker, and bank accounts, and:

MAKE FALLOUT FUN AGAIN!

Make it fun, the money will flow.
Reading your review (or rant? not sure what it was) I do not want you to make Fallout great again. I will just make another mod for Fallout 4, perhaps NV or 3.
RMPyro Apr 10, 2020 @ 1:18pm
You are welcome to buy the game on steam so you can review it.
