Can you weld a door shut in front of a spawn point?

And prevent enemies spawning from that point? Or will they just break down the door?

They'll break it eventually, even outside of a hunt. It doesn't prevent spawns I think.

It was the first thing I tried, but welding doesn't honestly seem all that great outside of using it for the stress healing. Xenos won't path around welded doors but will just break through them, so they're not very helpful for creating chokes as much as buying a few seconds - yet there are MUCH better uses for tools in an emergency (refilling command points for special abilities primarily).

Maybe it's better against the human enemies, I'll have to see.

Better to put down a sensor, so when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan you can keep them at the spawn point, while you do what you need to do and get out.

It depends on the strength of your weld. If you get the weld to 100% it hold pretty nicely. I was in a spot for AWHILE before they could get the door down. If you only get it 30-40% it's not helpful. Also, if you are starting to weld and they make it to the door it will interrupt the weld and the Alien will come in.

Yeah, what Realm said. Welding doors to block xenos is a big waste of tools. Only weld doors for resting and even then, try and look for save rooms that only have one door to weld.
