How do you apply mount skill points?

Is there a station I need to build or something else I'm missing? Do they need to be brought to the space station for training?

Examine your mount (i.e. open its inventory) and the skill tree is one of the alternate tabs along with stats. Only the character that claimed ownership of the animal can assign skill points.

When I click this tab, all I get is an image of my mount laying down. There's no skill tree there; just the image.

Are you using any mods? Or have you used them in the past? Mods are usually the reason for bugs like this.

Yes, and I had a feeling this was the issue, but the mods I'm using have nothing to do with the mounts. I guess it doesn't matter though?

Yeah, it's most likely your issue. The way the game architecture is setup is not very mod friendly so little changes can make weirdness happen all over. So it's best to play without but if there's one you really gotta have just make sure to get the updates for it ASAP.
