Do both players need to have a dlc or just host?

I haven't played in like forever but now since open world is more heavily coming - time to get back! So was curious does only host need to have a dlc and everyone who joins can get access to this new map or everyone need to have dlc?

Just the host needs the DLC. It was in one of the announcements.

Correct. It is studio policy to put as little DRM in our games as we can, and to make DLC as permissive as possible.

Oh man you deserve that im buying this dlc. Have brought it besides its especially in turkey very expensive but i know the circumstances with turkey the currency weakness and the vpn-player problems which results in this prices. Lucky one i am i can handle it.

Bumping this to add a follow up question.

How does this work for dedicated servers? I don't believe the server itself is tied to any one account. So does it then just fall onto whoever starts the mission from the lobby screen?

If the host does not have the Map DLC they cannot start a map even if you have it. To play on the DLC maps you must host them.

If the host does not have the decoration DLCs they cannot craft the items but they can see them if you craft them.

Same with pets, they can't order down the DLC pets but they can see them if you do. They can't start and host the pet DLC mission, but they can join you on it.

Bought the interior decorations DLC for hosting a server, my friend can not create stuff from the DLC, was this the intention?
