RIP Hog Horse.
If I had to guess, it's an issue with the lootbag falling through the mesh when it dies.
The entire mount system is already being worked on for revision. It was mentioned earlier in some patch notes. No details yet, it's just wait and see what they do.
I highly recommend for the future, that you carry around enough building parts to quickly build a small hut. 1 x 1, 1 x 2, or 2 x 2. It's up to you. But I always slap down a small building, then park my mounts inside to keep them safe. The worse that happens is I find a wolf or something attacking the walls. Many times I bring enough fortification walls, and walls spikes to build a little encampment around the temporary building. Then I come back to find nothing but dead bodies. Love the spikes. They're like chainsaws.

Your prospects and 10 auto-saves 30 minutes apart are in that folder. If it was in your open world then you should be able to tell immediately which file is your open world prospect and which are the auto-saves.
