1) In principle, this is also possible when using mods. It looks something like this: a person comes to his house, there are no walls, foundation, etc. But all the objects are hanging in the air.
1.1) You really need details of what happened, when, what you did, etc
1.2) I recommend turning off Steam clouds because there are regular complaints about progress rolling back, up to 1-2 days ago.

2) If you are afraid of losing your game progress or some other unpredictable problem, I recommend that you save your Icarus progress to a separate folder on another partition of the drive (or flash drive). (disable Steam clouds, otherwise, when you manually return your saves, there is a chance that Steam cloud will return the original saves).
