Mission Countdown Timer
So, I heard there will be a time limit to complete the missions. I wish it was an option of gameplay instead of a mandatory feature. Unlimited time to explore an unknown world is paramount, so, please, if possible allow us to turn that countdown timer on or off.

The countdown timer can be anything between minutes to weeks.... If you want to do more exploring than a quick mining run, do a 3 week drop. Doing longer runs is probably best for all upon starting the game, it lessons the chance of missing the ride back to the Spacestation!

I think it's a nice feature, making you have a clear objective in mind and giving the feeling of suspense if there are secrets to uncover.

I'm curious what the in-game timescale is like. Is it one to one with real world time? Also wondering how it will work on a week long drop. Does the timer still count down if you log off?

Looking forward to finding out tonight.

From the streams and what's been said on discord it's a 1 to 1 real time frame, So yes the timer still counts down when your offline. You can leave the prospect at any time before your timer expires. If you don't leave in time well then unfortunately your character is dead.

About time a survival game quit holding our hands.

A game with a timer that can't be turned off?

Hard pass, who is the target audie.... oh yeah, zoomers.

Please tell me there's an option to turn this off. Time limits are the stupidest idea ever.

It's AWESOME!!!
A timer that cannot be paused and keeps going even when you're not playing is great!
Perfect for anyone who doesn't have a private life....
or a job....
or a family....
or anything besides playing videogames....

Yeah I'm sure this will have a very interesting ''community''.

But who says that will be the balance? We don't know how much we have to do yet.
If you only have to play a few times in those 20 days what's the point of having a timer at all.

Missions have different time windows, objectives and difficulties. It's like Monster Hunter World mission system.

It's literally a core gameplay mechanic of the game. Stop acting like it's a negative thing just because you want to go down and build a house and live on the planet you visit. That's not what the game is about :|

monster hunter world has an entire campaing, tons of secondary missions, investigations and expeditions without a timer.
only the online events change every 2 weeks, and only the timed rewards are under timer retrictios (becaused they are timed rewards)
most of the content in monster hunter is not under timer

It is.

Once you start the mission, you have a clock with a limited amount of time to finish it (you can even see how much in the description).

And in Expedition, if you delay too much, the monsters just leave the map.

yeah i deleted my comment right after posting it, since i realized what you meant
i still think is a bad comparison since the point of monster hunter is the bossfight itself, and the point of this game is about something completely different

still i'm not going to die in this hill xD
