I normally struggle on sisters but its because you have so little time to attack, they are also immune to most builds that uses CC (which sucks) and they make power skulls near useless.
However this time i spent a solid minute on them, before getting to dark phase, and then due to having gambler i just used 1 ability and got something like a 400 crit two times killing them?
Roguelikes are inherrently random, and i can appreciate that, but i think the HP problem is largely an issue due to the afforementioned, alot of them are immune to "builds" you might be stacking and hence you are pretty much just standard attack, so unless you have one that focuses on raw damage it takes a while to kill them, which leads to most builds feeling weak and we ending up in raw damage
Not to mention getting some of the good quints can do half health to bosses or something, and its pure RNG.
i Agree...
but not for the same reasons...
been trying Challenge runs, and all in all, stage 4 seems imposible...
i can manage reaching the boss, but not beating it in a challenge...
like no switching, and Basic skulls until legendary only.
its no fun to go full Overrun priority as trying to use the main gimmicks of your skulls is whats supposed to be fun.
out of 7 Builds i've tried...
(3 particular skulls give me problems:
Ent
carleon recruit
water spirit)
it results Impossible to even try to beat 4th and 5th bosses with a lot of the skulls...
mostly because of Build issues...not enough damage even on like full Sets dedicated to Damage, or Needing to tank a lot of hits so you prioritize HP items, but then you don't do nearly enough damage, so Hoardes overwhelm you because you're hitting them with wet tissues with a half full defensive set...
issue here is probably that a lot of skulls are not balanced, and while i like challenges, ive hit a stalemate where i KNOW that some skulls cant deal with some bosses even if i wanted to, requiring me to acquire better ones...
its not that i cant beat the game, ive done already, but part of the fun also comes from testing your understanding of the game, and right now, its just teasing me as i cant do a run on ANY skull i want, unless i have an alternative overpowered skull...
which is not the goal here...
its more of a general Skull Balance, more than a Bosses have too much HP per se...
I've beaten the game several times, and each time I dread going into a boss room because its just really tedious and not fun. I've gotten to the point where I'm just doing runs up until I make a Legendary skull for the achievements and dark quartz, and just die (usually at the bishop...good lord I just fall asleep at the wheel).
I think it would be a lot more enjoyable to amp up the boss damage but decrease their HP, to where you can't just go guns blazing or you will die, but at the same time you don't spend an eternity on a single boss.
Long epic boss fights might work for linear games, but for rogue-lites where the core gameplay is doing numerous runs over and over, it just ruins it.
Or the second post?... Well, one or another, anyway.
And the bad side here is not that you can't beat the game for that builds - you can! But that you can - that's also the main horror of it! It's terribly long at 4-th+ Bosses.
And I know that almost all the power skulls that are supposed to be tanks are not the best skulls in the game to play... and I know where this will lead, if I play tanky build... and I don't build what the game wants me to build to pass through the certain bosses... so it will be a really long battles with a build that not focused on DPS and/or just use certain skulls... and I know that I was to blame only myself for that... and all this s**t...
But damn it!...
I just have feeling that something is wrong. Maybe not what I think it is, but something is definitely wrong with it.
Unless, it's just the planned game design that you have to put up with.
But I think that sooner or later everything will get better.
if you want infinite damage and health from out of runs, yeah i can see, aint no god mode for ya.
From my experience the 3 of which you listed Ent is the worst, both in all his previous forms and legendary form. I guess his unique is somewhat decent, but his Legendary is a plain downgrade from his unique. Bomber turns into a walking nuclear missle if you decide to upgrade him which is really good for stomping out bosses quickly if you have decent and reliable skull for switching depending on your build. Shield is hella fun against normal enemies and adventurers without even turning him Legendary, though as one might expect it'll take a ♥♥♥♥ ton of time for him to kill a boss.
