switch controller can't reload rail ammo?

i've played this game on both switch and steam (with both keyboard/mouse and switch controller) and i've noticed with the switch controllers i can't manually reload the adamant rail.
usually it's not a problem because the gun reloads automatically a second or so after ammo runs out, but with gameplay as fast as it is in hades, that one second can be enough to throw me off. plus it renders the aspect of hestia pretty much useless.

has anyone else had this issue? as i said, i've played it on two different console types with the only constant being switch controls, so that's why i think it's a switch issue, and not just a thing on my end, but i don't know for certain.

Have you tried rebinding the reload action to a different button?

Reload is the R3 button ... so click the analogue button in

It works fine for me; does your R3 work in other games?
