For what it's worth, after you get good at the game, 30 minutes is slightly on the long side for a run; it's not hard to do it in about 20 minutes if you put some effort into going fast, and if you're not trying to trigger something that requires beating the game, you can just suicide shortly after the start of your run.
In the long run, though, that won't really help the story go faster, because you do need to collect nectars / ambrosias and give them to others.
e.g. Asterius, Sisyphus, Zeus, Patrocolus, etc.
