You don't need targeting for lucifer bombs, you use it for defense and pulsating AoE.

Haven't unlocked lucifer yet last weapon I need.

I feel like spear and rail have the worst hammer upgrades and don't synergise well with the boons complete ass would fail most runs with those weapons

Higher AoE and triple special really makes it top tier, i also had luck with getting support fire so i didn't even need to trigger them :D

there's a reason why the rail is the final unlock for infernal arms, but excalibur aspect sword, chiron aspect bow, nemesis sword and even talos guantlets deserve recognition. some just need to be maxed out in blood to compete with any rail aspect

The rail simply just outclasses most weapons because aspects like eris and lucifer are good from the start and don't actually need a lot of high-level boons - contrary to most weapons and their aspects which need a lot of luck and good dodging skills.
Most weapons and their aspects are complete jokes without good boons at 32 heat from elysium, like 150-200 DPS and that's it. They also offer little to no protecion against the most disgusting combinations of benefits package. Even the shield becomes obsolete at the end because it only blocks with less than 180 degrees and that's not enough for a usable defense. Punishments like underworld customs can slowly wreck your build if you don't get enough boons.
Ranged weapons in general are just better and they synergize more efficiently with a lot of boons.

Like I said, this is only true when it comes to speedrunning. Take a look at these examples:

50+ Heat, not a lot of boons and none of them are high-level. The end result is still a victory because of sheer skill.

There're quite a few videos like that on these channels, so you're free to take a look. If anything, this is an undeniable proof that, aside from speedrunning, all weapons are on the same level if the player himself is good at the game.
